Nice work!!I painted my headlight domes with Rustoleum and they came out great but not sure how long they will last. I’m going to spay the body with epoxy because my son has access to a spray booth. If that wasn’t the case I was going to roll it on and work it til it shined. So it’s cool to see someone take that approach.Keep up the good wo…[Read more]

I haven’t seen Two for the Road yet (shame on me), but didn’t Audrey Hepburn wear a scarf, too?

Did some searching around and cannot find a Chevette sending unit.
But parts like this are often used across vehicle lines. And a pickup/sending unit for an early 70’s Chevy truck shows two lines coming out the top.I suspect one line is the vent line. And I’m almost certain you should have a filter sock for the pickup tube. Every Chevy pi… -

Thanks, Roy. I’ve got a Vac disty & Pertronix. My car idles high since I got it and I’ve been too lazy to attack that little glitch. Probably that’s most of my problem right there. With gas coming on over $4 I’ll neglect it no longer.Larry: OK then. Voice of wise experience. Thanks.

Nothing is cuter/prettier/sexier than a girl with a pony-tail in a TD. (But I’m glad that I don’t have one slapping me around, pony tail, that is.)

Might be a good TD Replicar slogan:
“Unmatched fun-per-$” or“TD Replicar: Unmatched/$”
I might plagarize and put it on the embriodered Polo shirt that I am ordering. It’s catchy and accurrate but needs a little refining and my brain is on extended leave.???? -

My girlfriend has already refused to wear a leather helmet. She has blonde long hair well past her shoulders. That would be torture for her.

I think that 25 mpg on the Chevette is about right.
Ed, re your lo-pow VW mileage: I was getting about 25mpg on MiGi but, my mileage improved significantly after I took out the 009 distributor and installed the factory SVA distributor. I decided to rebuild the engine before I got an accurate # but it was a very easily noticeable real i… -

My Chevette based BCW has a two barrel progressive linkage carb. About 24 is the best I’ve got . I don’t really drive for the best milage and do a lot of gearing down just having fun!!!It has a 4 speed manual trans.

I’m sure your girlfriend will love the effect the leather helmet will have on her hair!
And as Will proved, it is possible to go long distances in these little cars.I’ve done a NJ to Indianapolis roundtrip. And NJ to Cincinnatti roundtrip. Those were solo runs. With company, I’ve done long weekends from NJ into Massachusetts. The old New… -

I’m getting less than 25 with a low-po VW. Needs some carb love, I’m sure. Should be around 28-30 then. The guys claiming 40 mpg are rare, but they claim it so much that a Googler might think it’s typical mileage. The Chevette with a stick ought to do a little better than you’re reporting, I’d guess. The original car was rated at a combined 27,…[Read more]

Welcome, Dan.There are some TDs for sale here and there. I love the prices on these cars, as compared to the originals–or the Speedsters, Cobras, etc.The fun-per-$ ratio is off the charts.
