Yes they should be interchangeable. The only ones I’m not certain about are the fuel injected heads.

Allen, you are right that the factory numbered them that way, but it was my understanding that they were interchangeable. No??

I think the 311 part number heads are for a Type 3 engine used in VW squarebacks, fastbacks and notchbacks. Possibly a VW Thing. For VW beetles (Type 1) the part numbers usually start with 113.

Thanks for the link Roy. What a great site. That 67 SS Camero with optional 396 made me drool some. Good site to spend a winter afternoon on.

Just a quick follow up,Last night I deleted 42 user ids that were all from automated spammer/registration systems. And just now I deleted another 22.For the most part, I think our spam post blocking measures are working. That was 64 “users” in less than 24 hours that were unable to post any spam.

Paul, I’ve been in your shoes and didn’t like them. I get far more junk and spam in my own personal email account than through this site. Great job. Thanks.

Above were only my “toy” cars in the 57 years since my first. I didn’t include any of my family cars including a Maserati, ’41 Chrysler, 4 VWs, a super nice 55 Olds Conv., ’65 Catalina, + a host of others plus soccer mom cars, vans, etc. It has always been a weakness (sickness?) of mine. I just started thinking about my “fleet” while waiting fo…[Read more]

John, My guess is that LR used the same MiGi bodies on the VW pans as did on the custom chassis.I can’t explain why some have the hump and some do not except it is not unusual to see slight variations from year to year. My VW based LR has the short grille but it appears slightly different from yours. If I am correct, the front edge of your hood…[Read more]

I have noticed that some LRs have the hump others, no. I really don’t know why. There were advantages and disadvantages to moving the tub aft. Moving it forward makes the grill more MG like and if I could choose, I would probably choose one mounted forward (unlike mine). Let others tell of advantages/disadvantages since, being a newborn TDr…[Read more]

Roy some LR’s have the hump some don’t .Is this simply a newer body
model when LR bought out MIGI?. I have factory frame not a VW
frame. -
Royal replied to the topic different London Roadster running boards. in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 3 months ago
Daytona MiGi bodies were mounted about 2″ further aft than most other TDrs. This caused interference with the rear torsion bar strut (thus the hump). Also, the front grill is shorter due to this same interference with the VW front end. But there is more room in the engine compartment than in most others without putting on a very large ov…[Read more]
