Love the ’48 Tucker brochure on that site. I’d forgotten that was a rear-engine design with an aluminum flat 6. Probably ought to rent the movie…

Actually my first love was a Singer Nine. In the mountains of NY, it was owned by an “old guy” across the street (he was all of 45 but I was only 15). He drove it maybe 3 times in 5 or so years that I knew him. If you want to see why my favorite was the T series MG’s, check out the Singer Nine and you will kn…[Read more]

Great site…I enjo looking at older cars. When I was stationed in England I fell in love with three cars over there. My neighbor had a tan MG Midget, my boss had the last year of the TR6 a green one (he sold it for a red TR-7 Doorstop) and I had a white Mini Clubman. But still wanted the MG dealerships TC. British Racing Green and oh baby!!!!

Curt there is a mgtd kit for sell it’s been up for bids a few times . You might be able to buy it for the hood if it’s the same size ? And have it painted to the color you need.

I have the flat V W hub caps with the Porsche medallions .http://www.socalautoparts.com/product_info.php/hubcap-bugsup er-beetle-flat-emblem-p-15447
One of the medallions fell off on the trip home. And yes Moss MG TD hub cap medallions cover the three holes of the Porsche medallion’s holes . This one isn’t perfect ..so I will put it on the spare

Sorry John, Just remembered that you do not have a VW front end. Duh.

John, When I got my MiGi, it rode extremely hard. And the wheel clearance in front was too much giving it an un-natural look. I also measured the floor pan and found that it was not close to level. I considered putting weight up front, but finally was convinced to remove all the small leaves from the front beams as others had done. It was not…[Read more]

Paul,
Thanks for the info. I will give them a call to see if they have 9 5/8″ caps. Most of them I found are 10″. Thanks again. -

John, Glad you solved your problem. If you search the forum, you will find that there are many opinions as whether or not weight should be added. One school says to remove leaves from the VW type suspension and the other says add weight . I suppose there are pros and cons to either method.so I’ll not even to give my opinion.I once took a trip in…[Read more]

Good afternoon.. the shocks were ok in the MGTD a solution to my
London roadster bottoming out going over dips or bumps and also tire
rubbing when I made a tight turn. Apparently there was an extra
weight added to the front at some point(differnt color and no
undercoating). When this was taken off she rode just fine even with
myself (200#) and…[Read more] -

Good advice, Scott, but this gauge was just wired wrong. Ever a good gauge will read bad if it’s wired wrong.

Scott A Chynoweth replied to the topic Defrost > oil pressure in the forum VW Based Kits 13 years, 3 months ago
This is why I never put any stock/faith/or trust in an electric gauge, other than volt/ampmeter.
I know its difficult if not impossible to find a 20 foot capilairy tube for an oil gauge. So if a person is dependant on an electric gauge spend a little more and get a good quality gauge. -

Ed, thanks for the tip on Valvoline. Recently, I have been reading a lot about ZDDP and oils. Spent a couple of hours today at a variety of auto stores trying to find oils which even mention ZDDP. I only looked at 10W40 and 20W50 oils and only dino oil since synthetics are so expensive. I considered going with a 4 stroke motorcycle oil but fin…[Read more]
