Guess that I should have mentioned that the spec for gear to case (as mentioned in the article linked above) is .003 and the backlash is .004. 

My new pump arrived this afternoon.  Had a heck of a time getting the pulley off the crankshaft.  Had to borrow a special VW puller and it came off in less than 60 seconds.  The new Schadek is 26mm gears and the old pump was 21mm.  The gear to housing clearances on both pumps was the same at .003.  The old pump backlash was .010 but the new pump…[Read more]

MGLR….thanks for the link to the suction cup lights! The magnet ones are easy to find, but for some reason, they don’t stay on the fiberglass!

Greg, see my post above.  Attaching the tow bar and towing simply can not get any easier than with a VW beetle chassis. 

Thanks for all your input.One more thought,with my car being a rear engine and this may be a dumb question is the tow bar attached to the front of the car and does anything else have to be done when towing?

Sunny and 73 today in Southeast Texas. Perfect weather for some top-down errands before tucking Percy in the garage and coming in to work in the 12-year-old Ranger. 

  It was sunny and 70 here in Reidsville too. I took the BCW over to the land of Eden ( the long way). Logged about 35 miles in one hour of pure pleasure. Except for last Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday, it’s been a mild winter here. I’m not complaining about it either.

It’s 70 and sunny and beautiful here in New Bern.  Ed’s right, I was going to pull my old oil pump and get ready for the arrival of my new one.  Decided to take MiGi for a ride instead (I’m still not convinced that I need a new pump, but was very sure that I needed a ride.) 

Just got home, only 45* here in Ohio, but sunny, dry and too nice not to take Audrey out for a quick ride.  Got lots of .
