Thanks guys. Having not built this car myself, I’m learning a lot so far with brake systems. I recall some brake stars I had to tighten in my ’67 bug, then back off a bit.
With the shortened daylight hours, it is dark when I leave for work, and when I come home during the week. I don’t know if I can read the casting number tonight, but I’ll giv…[Read more] -

This is how I added a third brake light.
Not the prettiest, but as far as I’m concerned safety comes first. -

Rob,
I noticed your from MA. I am also from MA. Do you keep this bubble outdoors? If so how does it stand up to the snow? -

See if there is a casting number on the master cylinder so we can identify what you have. Is it a Chevy master cylinder? Is it a chevy master with the vacumn booster removed? Not a good thing as it probably has the wrong bore size to work as a non-powered system.

Meatballs are good for another 10 hp or so I’ve been told 🙂

why, again, can’t you get the master cylinder out?I ask because maybe it’s too small for the brakes. You might get better brakes if you put a proportion valve in it to hold back some juice from the rears, which–coming from a 240-26-280 z car–are probably bigger (and require more fluid) than the Chevette brakes they replaced. Check with the…[Read more]

Hey, I like Ed’s solution — especially with the TD trim. Very slick!

Ah, for the Cobra. I was wondering who I’d missed with meatballs on their TD.Thanks for the link. RatRacing is in the running. I might go local though.I want to get all done for under $50. Especially since I might end up not liking it…

I put a 3-inch diameter trailer light (something like $6 at Auto Zone) on a bit of galvanized angle steel I had left over from a garage door hanging. Bolted that to the license plate so the big light sticks up. This was one of the first things I did to the car, so small and weak and low are the TD’s tail lights. So far, so good.

Moss Motors offers this (Part No. 116-115) for about $80:
RodWorx.com has several, including this (#38048) for $15:
Rodworx also has a plate frame (#37947) for about $45:
I’ve never dealt with Rodworx, so can’t vouch for them.

Stub axle finally removed. After several days of spraying PB blaster I took my soft sledge and put it up against the axle and then beat the snot out of it with my 2 1/2 lb sledge. It finally gave up and came loose.I forgot to take before pics but the parts were just as cruddy as the CV joint and brakes. Interesting though, there was no grit in…[Read more]

How many members have the 3rd Brake Light? And where are they located if you do not have wire wheels? Trying to decide if I will add one. Thought has crossed my pea of a brain several times.

Roy,
I have run out of garage space so I purchased one of those portable garage (tents) for the Maita. This car only goes out in nice weather and is put away in the car capsule around the first of December before the salt hits the road. This winter will be the third year the capsule will be used. It’s nice to put the car away for the winter, in…[Read more] -

Hi John and welcome to the gang. I live in Reidsville NC and have owned a London Roadster since 1994. It’s been a dependable and fun toy . I owned two of them for a couple of years but sold one to a friend who lives a couple miles from me when I got a chance to get a Chevette based British Coach Works in 2009.

I remember seeing an old news phoyograph (black and white) of a TD with No. 15 (I think) on it. You don’t see it that often. Were you thinking permanent or something temporary?
