thanks for the advice. The car is now at a fiberglass repair place to spruce her up, fix the cracking, paint chips and bubbling. I had a window to get her to that shop yesterday, so I ran her over and left her. These tips are wonderful. I’m going to print this out and start working on this as soon as I get her back from her facelift. The en…[Read more]

Allen those are some great results. I am not surpised at what it did for the scratches even tho I was only using it to remove haze. What did amaze me was the slight amount of car color that came off in my micro fiber polishing towel. The area with the haze was very rough to the touch, but after was smooth like glass. I am happy it worked out f…[Read more]

Granted they do not look the pretiest. But look to be more functional, and more like the originals. And the top design looks to give more headroom, which mine lacks.
Sure don’t know about the rest of you folks, but I find that that large blind spot created on the rear (absent)pillar very troublesome when making a lane change. -

Nice wheel in billnparts’ link. But make sure you check the “dish”.The one in billnparts link looks like a two or three inch dish. Hrd to tell, but it looks like bends in the spokes. That is a lot and will bring the wheel a lot closer to your chest. On this page, you can filter the entire Grant line by diameter, dish, material and lots more:…[Read more]

When the engine is cold the butterfly valve is closed so the car runs rich, and that also makes it easier to start. When the car is warm, or when the electric heating coil in the choke warms up, it opens the butterfly valve so the mixture is correct. Opening the valve lets in more air, it does not limit the amount of fuel.If the engine runs well…[Read more]

Bill, Could you post a photo of the front end of your car? The painted grill shell and headlamps intrigue me.

Wow. That difference is amazing!Nothing like re-purposing a product. You should write to Novus…there’s a whole new market for their products.

Quick way to check that Idle cut-off valve. Open engine compartment and have assistant turn ignition key to “ON” not start. When the key is turned on you should here that valve click. If you don’t hear the click, then its one of three things: 1) you don’t have the wire from the coil connected to open it, 2) you have a bad valve, or 3) you don’t…[Read more]

Mike and all,
I asked earlier if this product will remove scratches. Well I can attest that it does. I ordered the Novus kit with 8 oz. bottles and used it on my driver’s side fender. There were a number of scratches, some deeper that others. Cleaned with No. 1, then applied No.3, buffed and went to No. 2 and buffed, then finished with No. 1. I am…[Read more] -

Did you look at the picture Paul posted? There’s a smaller barrel with a spade connection below the choke–could be on either side of the carb. Connect your + wire from the coil to that thing and try again. Dollars to donuts that’s your issue. If not, then probably clogged idle jet–you need a small strand of stiff wire to poke it out.All this…[Read more]

Hi Dante,You are in a unique situation. While BCWs are among the most desirable [IMHO], they are also rarer and therefore harder to find.I agree that buying a complete car and using what you need would be the route that you would probably have to take.
Here on the forum is probably ”the place to be” as there are more replica fans and own…[Read more] -

So far we have reconnected a wire from the coil to the choke. I pumped the gas pedal once and she started right up. But after running for a minute or so, it seems that the choke warmed up and opened ?) limiting the fuel and it dies.

Take a look at “died with my slippers on” under this thread. I posted a problem I had that sounds very similar to yours. As long as I kept the engine revved up it would run okay, but as soon as I took my foot off the accelerator it stalled. It turned out to be a wire that pulled off the “Idle Cut-off Valve”. As soon as I re-connected it, the car…[Read more]

Always keep an eye on ebay,I see whole cars that need work fairly priced, and you can always resell what you don’t use/need..There is also alot of original td parts that may be modded to fit. Then there is always craigslist.
A list of what you need will help others keep an eye out. -

It is unlikely that your copper line is causing the problem. You should replace it with hard fuel line anyway. Eastwood sells it by the roll along with bending and flaring tools. Harbor Freight sells the tools for less, a lot less. Don’t use brake hose.
Does the engine run normally at speed and under acceleration? If so the problem is in the idl…[Read more] -

Hi Dante,Welcome! You are in the right place. If parts are available, I’m sure someone here will know.We have at least five BCW owners here. Hopefully we’ll find help for you.

Since there is no roof on the car, enclosed is probably a good idea. Rain or other precipitation is your worst enemy.

I think I’ll request qoutes for an enclosed carrier on the top, even though that might increase my overall cost. No cover on it while it’s being transported, other than the truck soft or hard enclosure.
