Somehow the pictures I get with my Nikon camera scan big. There was a time when re-sizing them with the jpeg slider made them smaller. Now they just lose resolution.Sorry about that. I know there is a way to re-size them for real with software, but I didn’t bother. If it’s any consolation, everyone has to scroll with this post. My apologies.

  • Rocky,
My donor car will require tons of work. Don’t get discouraged. A lot of
the fun is defeating the challenges. Now that the body is off, is there
much work needed on the body?

  • Rock,
Thanks for sharing as well. Sorry if it felt like we were dumping on your
    parade.
I know well the feeling you had w/ your project – my oldest son and I rebuilt
my TD from about the same shape as the one you have and it will be his
when I move on or leave this life. We worked on and off for 5 years till one
day Josh said – Dad let’s just…[Read more]

Good story and I’m glad you made it home safely, too.I have a computer issue though. This post requires me to scroll far right in order to read everything.  It doesn’t seem to wrap to fit my screen.  Is that my screen setting, or a function of this site?

  • THanks guys for the info. & suggestions.   The DMV here was easy just turned in the Akansas title which needed to be transfered to Florida and got the new title on the spot without any problem plus an antique plate.  So I have it titled here in Florida, which list the model as a MGB and only issue realy is in the future should I sell the car and…[Read more]

Ed when I was in the title process for my car I sent them a photo. They must have liked it too because they didnt send the photo back with the paper work.

  • If you look at the flat cap just below the M you see a small dark area. That is all that shows of the empi emblem and it would be easy to live with if you go the flat style route. I think it was Newkitman that posted a link of a flat style with no logo, but when I downloaded their pdf catalouge it said the caps had logos. I emailed them twice with…[Read more]

  •  Thanks for sharing that story. It’s good for familys to stick together and do things together. I’m glad you and your sons had the time together and if it took an old rusty VW chassis to make it happen ,that’s OK too.
I may have spoke too quickly with my advice on gettin a better donor. Since you have the manpower and facilities to repair this o…[Read more]

  • My recollection of FL DMV is that they care what the car weighs (for tax purposes) and little else. Since your kit is lighter than an ’81 MGB (let alone a TD), they might fight you over the $5 or $10 less a year you might be paying with a correct title. But probably not.I had a mis-titled boat trailer & let the registration lapse this year. When I…[Read more]

I bought mine from MCS supply, but found this on Ebay Its for the kit of three 8oz bottles. Also has a description better than what i gave. There is also a Novus website that might answer any questions.

  • Those are both nice looking, but too bad a little of the Empi emblem sticks out on the flat one, you don’t see it in the photo. What are you going to do with your wire wheel look-a-like hub caps? If you’re not going to save them for future use, want to sell one or two, or the set? I need one to cover my spare, the P.O. lost one on the road. You…[Read more]

  • Smart man. Thanks for sharing that.Maybe we should put up a “why we fight” thread so everyone knows everyone’s motivations. I myself am an accidental convert.

  • Great story Rockyx. I am with you and your reasoning. I wish I would have had a project like that with my Dad, but it never happend. Not complaining mind you, he wasnt a project guy and as a kid I was to busy doing my own thing. However you choose to go here, rebuild your chassis or find a new donor Im sure there will be hours of memories made .…[Read more]

Laughing mrlmd, I dont even like doing my own, but if you have faded gel coat give this stuff a try.

  • Can I bring over my car so you can do mine too? That looks probably better than new.

  • Thanks guys.   I won’t have time for doing this work myself.  I just started a new job and it has long hours each day leaving no time during the week.  I’ll have to find a fiberglass repair shop and make a weekend appointment.

  • Mike replied to the topic New product in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 9 months ago

    Allen,
I didnt have any scratches to try it on. The back had just become faded dull with no shine that I couldnt bring back with wax, polish or compound. I had used the McGuires Ultimate compound with some good results, but the Novus beat it hands down. If I were you I would start with the #3 and rub it down, then go to the #2 work both in with…[Read more]

Mark my title here in Arkansas lists my car as a “1985 Custom AV.” I think the AV stands for Antique Vehicle .There was no arguing with the DMV here about being built on a 74 beetle representing a 1952 MG TD. My insurance company describes it as “1985 MG 1952 MG Kit”. I think the insurance description comes closer. I think most state DMV offices…[Read more]

  • Mike,Did you have major scratches anywhere? The results look really good. I ask because my TD driver’s side front fender has some pretty deep scratches. It looks as if this Novus product might do better than the McGuires product I used. Did you do the entire car, sort of like waxing it, with the lightest compound? Going to do some shopping today…[Read more]

  • Repair might call for removing a part (like a fender), sanding, fiberglass repair, painting and installing the part. When you get the part repaired and if a washer is called for make certain to install it and not overtighten the bolts and nuts.
