Thanks. I’m not sure. I wasn’t that careful in copying and pasting, so I could have something wrong. I don’t like the side curtains on this one either.

Dan, You are right about the nuts. Some have nuts, some don’t. Since Bill said his clamped on ,I assumed that he had the type with no nuts. This is beginning to sound like a Mounds/Almond Joy candy commercial. ”Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut, Sometimes You Don’t.

In Washington Will’s photo gallery ,his Daytona MiGi appears to have been removed from the pan with the fenders still attached. Unless the Duchess is designed differently you could probably remove yours at the point you are at now. Just be sure you have every thing disconnected ,be careful not to break any attachment points.

Hmmm. I’ll be watching to learn on this one. I wonder if the remaining ‘glass parts are light enough to be practically removed by you and a buddy.

Larry Murphy replied to the topic Wiper Arm Removal in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 14 years ago
Bill, Most of the time if you grasp the arm directly over the post with a pair of pliers and rock back and forth while you pull , they will come off. Some arms have a small spring clip that hooks under the knurled nut that the arm fits to.If your’s has the clip ,use a small screwdriver to pull the clip away from the nut.

I contacted the seller about the error in his listing and he wrote back saying he would correct it. I think his asking price was a bit steep for this type of car.

That would be me! To celebrate our second day under 100 degrees I decided to drive the Lafer to my doctor’s appointment. Black car. Black top. High 95. But managed to catch mostly green lights all the way there, AND found a shady parking spot. Not even the dreaded yearly prostate exam could keep me from smiling on the drive home.

Hi Dick,
Yes, we should get it onto our Download Manuals page.
I cannot do it directly. But our friend (FrankieD’s brother) at our web hosting firm will do it for us.

Ed, Pink MG’s pics in the second and third row of his gallery are the ones that show the car with the original BCW chassis trans mount and also the mount as Mark redisigned it to allow the complete mount and bracket that attaches it to the chassis to be removed from the bottom of the car.
Apparently BCW installed the engine and trans and THEN a…[Read more] -

I read his post earlier, some useful stuff in there but without any manual
to flesh it out I’m unsure where to begin…mostly because I think what I
can see under the car is likely the tranny mount and not the bearing. On
the other hand, if the mount has been collapsed for some time the
bearing is probably stressed to the point of…[Read more] -

Ok I had a little time this morning.Looked up an alternator kit at cip1,$150 for plain finish,$160 for all but the alternator in chrome. And free shipping. If you check them out type in alternator kit in the search box.

Scott A Chynoweth replied to the topic Gen vs Alt in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years ago
I think the problem of needing a spacer is with the single port engines.I have had both, the single port needed a spacer for the carb to clear the larger diameter of the alternator. With the dual port it cleared. also buy an alternator kit, comes with everthing needed, including wiring directions. If I recall I purchased mine from cip1.

This will probably sound crude or verv elementary since I’m not too cp smart but here goes anyway.
We are in the Chevy/Ford section now. Click on the blue arrow at the top left of the screen. You will see a list of topics. Look down the list and you will see Chevette transmissions. Several posts down is a post by Pink MG that details the t…[Read more] - Load More
