I have a brand new 8″ Ford center section (pumpkin) with 3.55:1 gears and an Auburn posi. It’s all brand new…zero miles.
The axle’s flanges were re-machined for 5 lug Ford (5 x 4.5″) 1/2″ x 20 studs.
The rear is narrow and was to be used in a Buick V6 powered Ford based CMC MG-TD I started to build.

Richard, to set the timing on a 009, you need to rev it to 3,000 RPM and hold it there and set it at 28-30 degrees advanced. Do you have a degereed pulley? This usually backs down to about 7.5 degrees or so at idle.
Did you check to see if it’s “hitting” on all four cylinders? Check your firing order a couple more times…a crossed wire could do…[Read more]

Had a similiar problem with my Allison with the auto shut off not working. The Allison is a little different in that the filler is the radiator cap. Yep you guessed it. Fuel spilled down my freshly polished grille. Fortunately it wasn’t very much.

The spinner nuts are marked “OFF” with an arrow in the direction. They also have a little ? shaped keeper to keep the spinner from backing off. This is my first set of knock off’s so I was just wondering how tight to make them. Didn’t want to over do it if you get my drift.

I’ve thought about putting a Honda S2000 engine and transmission in an MG, but I don’t think there is enough room up front.  I know it was done in a Morgan, but that’s a larger vehicle, I believe.

The route is actually kept a secret until after race. It should be available following race on the hemmings website

I would be interested in following on my own time, some of the routes this and past Great Races have followed.  Does anyone know how I can find the routes of past races, highways, and by-ways?  This looks like it would be a lot of fun, staying off the Interstates.

I think they’re opposite-threaded so that driving forward will tend to tighten them.

September is looking good for this. Mid to late, I’m thinking. Greg the Delaware guy says he’s up for it (should, too, since it’s only 40-50 miles for him). 

Valves? valve springs?reaching here but I do remember a Car Craft big block chevy build from back in the day. They rigged it up nice, big cam, the works, unleashed her on the strip and the engine laid down at about 5500. Should’ve revved to about 7k, 7500. Don’t know about torq, but you always tighten to the rear. loosen towards front. Drivers side is not interchangable with the wifes side.
