I agree that parts availability is a good thing, you never know when you may need some. The CMC diminsions are relatively close to the original MG but fitting a folding windshield will require trimming the molded in mounts off the cowl even if the measurments do check out.The folding windshield option was used when racing the MG to reduce wind…[Read more]

MG Magic sells parts for CMC and Fiberfab replicas. Parts support is a good thing.
How do their dimensions compare to the originals? i.e. for things like a folding windshield. How does their build quality compare to BMC? -

We were on vacation. The car was easily fixed. The neighbors on the other side of that fence had a little boy, about five or six. I shudder to think what might have happened if he was playing outside. We “know” who did it, the son of our neighbors. Known drug addict, and a the police used him as an informer. They were never going to do anything to…[Read more]

Paul, I have always heard that the truth is stranger than fiction and your story seems to back that up.Glad that no one was hurt or killed in the incident.

Dan R has the answer here.My original Classic Roadsters top, with the kit in 1982, used a piece of flat aluminum stock. I never had a problem.Around 1989 I had to replace the roof. The replacement from Classic Roadsters used a flexible material, not sure what it is. But it did not hold the roof in the channel at speed.I replaced it with the…[Read more]

The plexi came with the top but my feeling is that its too flimsy. I will try the aluminum though. I just finished adjusting the top and now I have to move the screw snaps. I’m going to be filling hole forever. I will drive it tomorrow and see what happens.

I used aluminum bar stock , bought at Lows and it slips in the slot and the top pocket and has never come out ,easy to insert and remove
it will never break and will not bent when trying to insert. Dan R

The front edge has a plexiglass insert but the top is loose above my head. I will look at the bow for adjustments and see what happens. Thank you!

Jeeze, glad you’re all right. So I guess there’s a reason those babies get torqued on with long bars.Rear bumper is available at Moss. I seen them on ebay for about $90 for the blade. This whole thing reminds me of a song I learned on the Speedster board. . .

Various answers:- seats are VERY thick…and I ordered extra firm foam..mainly because the original seats were so godawful.
– not so tall…6’1″, but had them make the back rest thinner and contoured so that I wasn’t so up against the wheel- along those lines, next to the backrests, instead of foam is really hard plastic, so that it won’t wear…[Read more]

i had a similar problem with the top , however, mine was an old top. the strip would ooze out of the channel at speed. my fix was to replace the strips that go into the loop on the front edge, which were made of cardboard with some masonite i cut on the table saw and sanded the sharp edges . was a little trial and error getting just the right size…[Read more]

Is the top snug without excess loosness which will cause it to flop in the wind? If it’s loose ,you can raise the front bow by loosening the set screws in the sliding bracket and positioning the front bow in a higher position on the rear bow. Also ,unless the top has loops sewn in it for the bows to pass thru, you will need to add two st…[Read more]

Thanks Montie. I checked your gallery and then I remembered seeing the seats when you first posted them. Just goes to show that where there’s a will, there’s a way. That’s a real good looking TD you’ve got.

Larry,
It looks like he did something similar to mine. I had the back narrowed 1″ on each side and moved it to the top of the tub instead of in front of it. It is still hinged so you can adjust the angle, upper side mounts had to be moved too but was well worth the work. I gained about 3″ to 4″ of space between me and the steering wheel. It…[Read more] -

Bill, Truly a unique interior. You must be a tall guy as far back as the backrest is positioned. Could you post more pics of how you got it there.? We recently had a member to sell a car that he had just purchased because his legs were too long and he had to remove the backrest to drive it.
We would like to see more of the entire car too.It lo…[Read more] -

Bill, It looks “GREAT”. Hows the MG on the back rest?
The seat botoms look different, did he do something to make them contoured? Extra foam or something? I think all of us are trying different things to make the bottoms more confortable, anyway more than a board with foam and vinyl on it. Montie -

Stanli, you mention needing new chrome. If it’s just the bumper, most TD replicas used TD repro bumpers. You can find them at a number of vendors, like Moss Motors. If it is your grill shell, repro TD shells are VERY rare. It will likely be cheaper to have yours rechromed.
