Lots of hail the size of base balls… trashed my wife’s PT Cruiser convertible not the cloth top but most of the sheet metal the TD was under the carport nothing happened to it.. the roof on the house and carport is dented all over
a Le baron conv. is no-longer worth fixing
BUT KNOWONE was hurt,so I guess all is OK

Isn’t that a Powerglide behind that 215 Buick? Why the concern over a clutch pedal.
If I ever build another front engine TD replica, it’s going to have a “brainless” Automatic OD trans. My size 13’s won’t fit a three pedal set-up.
Check out the aftermarket for Wildwood or other brand floor mounted brake pedal/master cylinder set-ups. It still…[Read more] -

When I got my BCW from Mark the BCW emblem had already been removed before he had the grille shell rechromed. I atached it with trim adhesive when I assembled it. I have since replaced it with a MG emblem ,but there was a hole in the fiberglass behind emblem which is large enough to use a deep socket on an extension.

You Tube compilation of some of the none-too-professional video and camaraphone pics I got. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3TZTg6xH7MShould be watchable in a few minutes.EDIT: Watchable, not hear-able, as the Tube now apparently stripps out ripped soundtracks automatically. Can’t say I blame them, but kind of too bad for me since I spent a bit…[Read more]

To Larry Murphy, Mark Hendricson, Paul Mossberg
I have a BCW/front engine chevette powered TD rep. I made an attempt to remove the BCW emblem from the grille shell. I drilled a clearance hole through the fiberglass behind the emblem, thinking there would be a nut I could access there, but it doesn’t look like it. Do you have to remove the en…[Read more] -

Noticed on your photos of dash that you had chrome trim around the center dash cluster insert. I think I used the same chrome trim on mine, but not happy with results on mine. I have the same shape as the original, made from from some thin guage plastic, with pleather (vinyl) over-lay. my corners are: some wrinkled, some pop out,and so…[Read more] -

I’m not sure how the seats are mounted in the VW based TD ,my BCW is Chevette based, but you may be able to lower the seats by reworking the seat bases and get the clearence you need and gain head room as well. Do some checking before you start cutting.
If you decide to move the column, Ed’s advice seems right on and well thought out. -

That pedal problem looks tough. Your foot box looks narrower than the one on the car (BCW Chevette) a guy named Greg brought to Carlisle. He was saying his was tight and it looked like it, but not like yours.

Welcome aboard. This is a great site with lots of mutual support. I
live in Sacramento and have a BCW Chevette based MG. The drive
train is right out of a 1976 Chevette and the Haines manual is very
helpful. Also the wiring appears to be lifted out of the Chevette. -

I’ve got a BCW VW and have been thinking the same thing since I went and installed a gigundous 17-inch tiller on her. Haven’t cut anything yet but looks to me like the brace bolted behind the dash could move up an inch at least. You could also relocate the hood latch and gain even more flexibility in terms of interference with the gauges.I think…[Read more]
