Original side panels would be a great solution. But my BCW hood is 3 inches longer than an original. I think I can use a router to cut the openings in the side panels.

I Know they have them, but they don’t ha e the style I’m looking for and will not custom make them. I need the width of the reproductions so I can buy leather blanks and dye them myself.

Fan shroud.
Putting a fan over the whole rad is good but the key is getting the air to move through the whole thing–a full shroud and then a way for the air to get out from under the hood. These cars, like most, can develop relatively high pressure under the front. The ope louver idea could work as well.
I made a shroud over the rad and allow…[Read more]

My new chevette powered manual transmission gets up to 215-220 and stays there. The stock thermostat is 195. I am going to flush the system and install a 160 thermostat this week.
There is no reason you can’t add original side panels off a real td if you are good at making things look good and fit. The kit hood sides go down and bolt belo…[Read more]

If you do send a photo and a description on how you cut it. I have real trouble with engine heat.
I put in a 4 core rad and electric fan and still gets hot.

Well almost. Engine is overheating. Need to find problem. I put a 12 inch fan as a pusher, but I think it was designed as a puller. So I am putting a 12 inch puller fan on the engine side. I could buy a 14 inch fan to cover more of the radiator, but do not want to spend money unless it would make a good bit of difference. I checked therm…[Read more]

Has anyone opened up the louvers on the hood sides? I would like to get hot air out of engine compartment. Thanks.

We are going to try again. This is the same course as the Pagoda Hillclimb where I crashed in June with an additional mile of higher speed road along Skyline Drive. This is where I damaged the 4 cylinder engine last year. Hopefully, I can muster the courage to open it up along there.

My responses range from 52 MGTD to 69 Duchess to Replica…
But my two favorite responses are:
A Baby Rolls Royce…
A 69 VW with Plastic Surgery!

In my case it depends on the level of interest expressed by the individual asking the question. Sometimes the response is a 52 replica, other times more detail is provided, 68 VW chassis with a 72 VW motor and a body manufactured in 82 designed to replicate a 52 MG TD. To further confuse some where I don’t care for their attitude it is a 52 VW TDR
