don’t forget in order to install the spring loaded tube you have to remove
valve cover ,loosen and remove tappet and remove the pushrod ..then
remove the old tube ..replace with new tube and replace pushrod etc..and
then adjust valve clearance…ummm did I miss anything -

Montie, You did a great job with the engine compartment. I really like the stainless piece with the MG emblem. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Very cool, Dale. I’m thinking about making a lunge for it–family obligations may prevent. What about the other Speeders? Corey of The Hooptie would seem like a possibility, no?

Gary, Search AIR COOLED VW on the internet. They have spring loaded tubes that they say will allow the replacement without the removal of the head. About $12.00 each ,also available in sets.
I have no experience with this product but it may solve your problem. -

Montie, I used fender welt to trim the perimeter of my dashboard. Here are the pics.Ringo has the champion dash construction though and I plan to follow his lead later this year when I make a new one with a glove compartment.Toward that eventuality, I did manage to score a real TD dash on ebay. Pretty beat up, but it did include the chromed brass…[Read more]

It appears that the car has been sitting for some time so y…[Read more] -

Actually its one in Florida. I have to make a business trip near there in a couple of weeks and was going to drive the extra miles to get a look at it and talk with the owner. Just want to be sure that I can get parts for it if I need them. Here the link:http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1001763

Big Al you must be refering to the one in california. If I had the time and money I would grab the whole works. If I read the ad correctly you would be getting 4 cars for 1 money, but you should be able to work out a good deal on the 2 mg’s and there sould be enough between the 2 for 1 nice driver and parts left to keep you suplied for awhile.
