I’m also on facebook, and even though I don’t understand how to use it very well, I agree that having some kind of page there would not be the best thing for this group. We would be inundated with all sorts of crappy messages, which take time to delete.NO NO NOGreg

We get enought bogus users now…this site is not set up to block them. Facebook would generate even more IMO.
If people “google” MG-TD our site comes up. -

Pacesetter used to make a Chevette header, but it’s discontinued.
If you try the Chevette forum, http://members.boardhost.com/Vette_Man/ , there’s a guy that hot rods these motors for the dirt oval classes that run these cars in the TN, KY, IN area. It’s called Fields Performance. If I remember correctly. There was even a local cam grinder who’s…[Read more] -

I am on Facebook. I don’t use it enough to understand how it all works. I use my old nickname and people still find me on it.

I agree with Greg. I also have a 2.3 and love it. It is easy to work on, parts are always abundant, and the performance mods are endless. Mine is wicked fast now, and I love working on such a user friendly power plant. My 2 cents

Like JasCochran, I too have a 2.3L ford, which is VERY quick. I owned a new Chevette, and would not need to experience that again. See if a 2.3 will fit, and if you are going to rebuild an engine anyway, why not go for the best four banger? Just a thought.Greg

I took mine there about 10 years ago in search of replacement tail lamp lens’. I actually found some that fit and of much better quality. I didn’t stay, but they held an autocross event that I wanted to enter, but was only there for a shopping trip. Hope to be there again next year for some more ideas.

Jena, I believe MG magic had all the bumper parts you mentioned, I spoke with Brad about them only a week or so ago and he said he had them all in stock. The Daytona Migi is a bit different from some of the other models, but also has many similarities. I am far from an expert but I do own a Daytona Migi (VW) and a CMC chevette kit and will be…[Read more]

Mark, Thanks for the info, I actually live and work very near Rick Drake and thanks to some of the old threads you mentioned, I have already contacted him and enlisted his help. We had a very long talk about chevettes last weekend and he has invited me out to his shop. This is the great thing about this group, it is so valuable to have folks such…[Read more]

Thanks!! I’ll start there and see what I can find. I’m taking over the office work for my husband and have to get my bearings on where to go for different vehicle parts. This MiGi is definitely one of the more unique ones we’ve got here.
Thank you again!Jena -

MG MAGIC, [see contact info on the links page] would be a good source for both the bumper and the latches.. Moss Motors also has the bumper and I think you could use latches from a Jeep as well.

The Chevette and Pontiac T-1000 DO NOT use the same driveline as the Vega, Monza, etc.
The original ’76-’77 Chevette drivetrain (1.4L/4 speed manual) was from the Opel Kadett. In 1978 the engine displacement was increased to 1.6L and the head was redesigned internally for more low-end, but did not flow as well at higher RPM’s. So, the older, rarer…[Read more] -

I have to add that Tyler and I are gratefull for our 2009 blessings too.
It was our pleasure to meet the Murphy’s and their family in May.
We hope to make a return visit to Reidsville in the future. Retirement may come soon and who knows where we’ll end up? It will surely not be here in NJ…too expensive!!!
