Thanks Paul,
Next time I am on the boat I’ll check to see what that one is. I think it was made by Deltran, I seem to remember the name, the label has changed a bit over the years. I did get it on seasonal clearance about four years ago at a marine supply. I’ll use the Sta-bil, but not on my snow blower since we get maybe a 1/64 of an inch of the…[Read more] -

Geoff , you should have a plug ,square head on the side of the trans. check it by removing it and fill to the bottom of the threads most trans use 90wt.gear lube the same with the rear axle.check with ford as to the lube you need the rear seal on the trans is a easy repair but lots of bolts 4 on the rear drive shaft and pull it out use a seal re…[Read more]

And since it is in the same thread…I also swear by Sta-bil.Both cars get it.My snow blower gets it to. Even though I run it until it’s dry at the end of the winter season, there is always residual gas left in the system. So the last tank full of the season gets a shot of Sta-bil.I put it in the gas can too.

Mel, what is the actual date so I can mark my calendar.
What is a good brand of battery tender to use? I have one (cheap one) on my boat that seems to have held up, never had a problem in the past four years, but I don’t know if it’s the tender or the solar unit that is keeping my battery up. I will not use a solar panel on the car. Any…[Read more] -

I’ve had a Battery Tender on my MG for about 10 years. And one on my 65 Satellite for two years. Never a problem.

Remember what happened to Ringo
. It is tough to see the notches on the pulley, but you may be able without removing anything, just twist around, like a pretzel. I steel wooled the pulley with the timing marks to clean it up and took a silver paint pen and marked the one that needed to show in the timing light. The timing belt cover on mine was…[Read more]

Just to add to that — http://car-part.com/
You can type in any car, part, and your zip code. It will search all the salvage and junk yards in the area and let you know whats available. They even list the price sometimes. Cool site

Thanks for the advice:
I added Sta-Bil to the gas before I left Florida. I have him warming it up monthly and driving it up and down the driveway. -

That was really great Paul…now we’ll all need to purchase hand held orbital sanders or ask Santa to bring one!
Actually, if the rotors are not too thin or warped I never turn them…just install new pads. If they are warped or too thin, in most cases, it’s cheaper today to just buy new rotors anyway.
Now, to all with bad brakes…make sure yo…[Read more] -

Starting the car is a good idea. But if that can’t be done and you have to store it for a few months:
Run all the fuel out…until it’s dry. Sta-bil will also help in the short term and you can leave the fuel in it.The methanol in today’s fuel eats up the 1970’s era carb guts. It’s horrible what today’s pump gas is doing to the fuel systems.

Thanks Guys! I will replace the fuel filter, pcv set-up and I think the timing is off too…. It still runs kinda funky. I cant see the notches on the pulley to check the timing. I may need to remove some body panels. Hopefully not!
