Rich,
Yes you did. I made some myself, and made them quite a bit larger. There was not much different than the nornmal size ones. I used windwing hinges left over from my MGTC which worked quite well. They can be bought from Moss. Trying some other ideas all which has to come to a good end sometime.

This is what I can find after a pretty lengthy web search:Super Beetle Rear Track – 53.25 inches
Standard Type 1 Rear Track – 50.7 inches (this spec was for a 1960 Type 1 which means swing arm suspension). The Independent Rear Suspension has a wider track, but I have not been able to find the factory spec.Track is typically a measurement to the…[Read more] -

Been there done that.most measurments I have found give a track width, but do not specify where it is measured. With 10 vw based mg owners on here, and most likey on a standard pan,is it that hard to measure?I know I have dared to be different.I was informed I couldn’t use a super pan.Well I was able to convert one,and it worked out…[Read more]

There are many aftermarket seat manufacturers that make “retro” look low back bucket seats. Corbeau, Sparco, Scat, etc.
Finding tiny, low back buckets that would fit relegates you to 60’s British cars and their seats are big $$…for that matter, so are the aftermarket seats -

It is terrible hot and humid…[Read more]

Hey James,
Just a follow up note. I know you’ve recently gone through some very difficult times. Just wondering if you’re going to get back to that car in the near future. Probably too hot to drive in Memphis at this time of year anyway, but there’s some nice fall days comin’ around the corner!

Greg:
It will never make a 30 sec spot on the TV if they let you talk about your car. They will have to make it a reality show.
I’m envious, but make sure you send us links to the TV and Daily Sun article. Good things happen to good people.

Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Tires?? in the forum General Discussion 15 years, 11 months ago
I had bias ply tires on my car when I first built it. The car would follow every ridge it could find. Swapping the bias ply for radials made all the difference in the world. The steering was a bit easier. But it was not a huge difference.
