Hi Rich,Shades of “History Detectives” !! Very interesting info…I just may pursue this…I’m not the original builder-I purchased the the car 15 years ago from the 2nd owners family,he had passed away and the car had sat for atleast a few years. I was lucky enough to receive everything he received when he acquired it from the original b…[Read more]

Hi,
Just for the heck of it, I googled Laverne Martincic. Looks like the same lady, now a Real Estate agent in Ormond Fl (Right next to Holly Hills). There is a photo of her and she looks to be the right “vintage” to have run a company in 1976. Oh yeah, her middle initial is also “J.” Coincidence? I think not. Might be fun to contact h…[Read more] -

Not much online about the company, that 3 people ran in daytona. I found an address and a…[Read more]

Hi Mindseyeblind…..
This sounds like content Frankie should put on the TD History – Replica page.
There is an entry for Daytona Migi, but no content.
Frank is very involved in the VW world, but sadly no longer has his TD replica. He created this web site and forum and is still the administrator. He stops by regularly. If we are patient, I am…[Read more] -

Purple and Paul! Hello again! I found some of my info easily, working on the rest….I think I can scan most everything, but it may have a red stripe through it! Just a couple things for now….it wasn’t Daytona Products, (the memory is going!) it was Daytona Automotive Fiberglass, Inc. 852-910 Carswell Ave. Holly Hill, FL 32017. LaVerne was th…[Read more]

Thanks ! I like the idea of a mellow sound. I have to smile when someone with a small car with a loud muffler screams through the gears, as a large suv purrrs past it to the next light. I like the #55-3417, but it has the #2 & #4 pipes still high, and for some reason the rear deck will actually sit on them unless shimmed up. Guess I will try the…[Read more]

Hi, I went to http://www.egauges.com and went with the VDO Cockpit Royal group as that group had a oil temperature gauge. I e-mailed the co. and told them what kit car on what doner car I had and they responded with the sender numbers to match the chosen gauges. I have a speedometer, tach, volt, fuel, and oil temp gauges on the way. Haven’t seen them y…[Read more]

VDO sending units at:

If you already have a source for VDO Heritage, the sending units above should work with them.

Thanks Mindseye!Great info! And like you said Paul, an antique kit lol! fits right in with all the other old cars we have :)Does yours have a tag on the tunnel also? I don’t have a pic posted of mine, but it’s there , listing it as a registered kit car in Fla. There’s some more pics in a thread in the my project area too. Haven’t done much more to…[Read more]

I love math wizards!
My ’74 Beetle has a screwy gauge. If it’s totally full, the gauges reads fine. When it hits 3/4 tank the needle disappears below empty. So, last night I disconnected the sender wire and the needle stayed below empty. I touched the wire to ground and the needle went beyond full.
We tried the same thing on my buddy’s ’87…[Read more] -

That EMPI system has the single outlet, like a real TD had. If you are worried about heat, the ceramic coating is the way to go.
I have a ’74 Beetle that I am going to put the EMPI # 55-3417 GT exahust on. Currently the car has a “gutted” Mexican exhaust that is WAY too LOUD! I don’t want the heat, so the ceramic coating is worth it too me.
The…[Read more] -

My Car didn’t have wind wings when I got it. I added them, I don’t think them make a great difference but they sure have curb appeal.
Let us know how the project is coming

Hi purple! It looks to me that you have one of the original cars/kits that were made by Daytona Products out of Florida…Laverne was one of the owners….pretty sure they actually created the MiGi….I think Fibrefab bought them out…I have one that was first completed and registered in 1976….yep, 33 years ago!!! I have alot of the original…[Read more]

Thanks for the time and information. I wish I had a pattern, but am going to cut some tomrrow. If anyone wants to get into this, I used the wind wing hinges which were on my MGTC. and am going to try to cut plexie glass and have it look ok. I had to cut the inside of the hinges down but so far I think they will work. My biggest probl…[Read more] -
