Was wondering if it was real/repo MG. Fixing to remove the headlights in a few to get it off. I have the floors all swept out, I hate rust in the yard. And the engine is degreased. Found the two idle stop screws laying in oil, plus dozen nuts. Found a handful of bolts, nuts, and screws under a piece of plywood on the drivers side. 3 of those are…[Read more]

Hi Myth, I took a look at my car ,same body as yours, I think, and mine has what looks like a shell specially made to fit over the fiberglass nosepiece that fits between the two sides of the hood. Your grille shell looks like a real MG and looks like it is not deep enough to reach the hood and side panels.Faraoh bought a MG shell but I thi…[Read more]

I just checked it, it’s in the gel coat. Many years ago I worked at a boat shop, and the builder of the hulls did the same thing, his looked like that too. I’ll use some paint stripper over that instead of sanding when we get to that part.

AWESOME! Beautiful rides. Good to see a white one like mine. Be sure to post to the registry. We only have a few owners with two replicas.

I also have a complete set.
I have installed mag. spoke style wheels on my car.

I have a set of five in decent shape. They are locking style. You bolt a bracket to the wheel, put the locking cover on, then the basket. The center hub screws into the bracket.
I am traveling. I will send you photos when I return home.PMOSSBERG40006.4750231481 -

Yup, There you go. A Daytona. The grill and rear engine cover help confirm that.
I’m curious about the “copyright” plate above the serial number.
It looks like one of those Dymo (?) labels. You know, the ones that press invividual letters into an adhesive backed strip. After it was put on it was painted over. I have never seen a copyright tag on…[Read more] -

3 hrs. 100* but I wanted to get started. Washed and scrubbed it, removed the spare tire, and then gutted it. Nothing more than a fiberglass sheet on the passenger floor, on the driver side, a trimmed to fit piece of plywood. All the carpet is out, dry rotted so it basically just crumbled. Have everything piled up, will keep the seat for a…[Read more]

On a mechanical speedo, check the cable. Make sure it’s spinning freely in the case, if it has any stiff bends , it may have worn a rough spot in the housing and any drag and needle will jump a bit. Make sure it’s securely connected at both ends. On our bugs, it connects at the front wheel, some times they vibrate loose and if not tight would be…[Read more]

I have a mechanical speedometer and run 10-40 weight oil. I’m due for an
annual oil change and and thinking of changing to 20-50 weight oil. I upped
the idle RPM to 800 and hope that might solve the oil low pressure light (no
pressure gauge) problem. -

http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a71/crbugs143/MG/These are the pics I have so far, will get more when we get it home and scrub it clean. There’s a pic of the ID on the front wall, I blanked out the serial #’s they are there , just habit. I did a bit of researching this past week, and the ‘body by daytona’ lead to a company in Daytona , Fla…[Read more]

Obvious, but check the oil level too.
It is not unsual for oil pressure to drop below 20 pounds at idle when an engine is hot. Do you have a pressure gauge? Or just a warning light?
What viscosity are you using?

Hmmmm, that’s not very reassuring 😉
Don, get thee over to the registry and post the owner and vehicle details for me! -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Daytona migi in the forum General Discussion 16 years ago
Hi myth
Never heard of anything with a similar name. Post some larger shots, including several angles of the car. And I’m sure we’ll be ableto figure out what she is.
And while you’re at it, post the details requested in the Car Registry thread and I’ll add you to the registry list.

You could also try to find one of the speed monitoring displays on the highway where they display your speed as you are approaching the check point
