Rob,
Our cars should sit at about the same level because they are both the same Ford suspension components (I think), but your’s is definitely lower in the rear. Let me know if you need any specifics on how mine is set up.
My speedometer is overstating speed by about 5 MPH. Not bad, but if you find a cheap source for alternate gears, I’d like to…[Read more] -

Hopefully it will get me to the ice cream shop and back this weekend. Still have some work to do on it but hopefully nothing that will stop me from enjoying it this summer.

Geoff,
Ain’t it great??? I’m really glad to hear that it arrived safely from NY and you’re now able to enjoy it any time you want. Very well written too!
Your description of “staring down the boxy hood” was perfect! I think that look is one of the most fun things about this car. It makes the ride like nothing else you drive. Yesterday it was ~ 70…[Read more] -

Hey Rob,
Glad you got it on the road. Looks like you’ve been cleaning and buffing! I thought you lived in MA.
Let me know if you’re in the Nashua area, and we can arrange to have the “twins” meet.

Well it wasn’t my true first drive, but since I am the proud titled owner(thanks to my dad, and seriously thank you dad!) I was able to take my MG out for the first time yesterday.
Wow!! What a rush. I spent the past week going over her. I changed the oil, ran gas treatments, replaced filters, polished, primped, adjusted the carb mixtures, et…[Read more] -

Thanks. I was pretty sure it was, but either didn’t search the right website or gave up too quickly so I decided to ask the “PROS”.
Are the dual port heads that much of a performance item when equipted with two 1bbl Webbers (as mine is)? Would the progressive Webber 2bbl be a better choice? -

Yes. That is the engine number.AE is a 1971 or 1972 1600 cc dual port. And maybe a 1973. These two site disagree on the 73 (one says yes, one says no).http://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/engine_letters.phphttp://www.lightner.net/ybdb/serno.html

Thanks Dan…looks like we have the people listed in the poll that don’t have the Pink MG voting on who they think does have it?
Does that make sense? -

Hey Gang.I remember reading on a british car site that these were sometimes called kidney shields. I suppose since they redirected some of the air going into the area above the door? Ringo

Call or e-mail Esslinger’s or Racer Walsh…they’ll know for sure.
I suspect it was for some sort of oil line that went to the turbo charger on the 2.3L Fox body Mustangs and T-Bird Super Coupe. -

Hey Bailey,
I’m going to bust your buns…No malice intended. Wind is something you live with in these cars…it’s half the fun of driving them!
The wind wings just rearrange the air a little. I always thought that they were mostly for looks.

My Dad mentioned some sportscars have a “visor” behind the drivers bench seat maybe 6″ above the seat all the way across. I still haven’t seen any examples, but he said that this “visor” really cuts down the wind. I don’t know why, but it has something to do with a change in the aerodynamics. He always wanted to test it with plywood first cut at…[Read more]
