Good Morning Larry:I’m in the Raleigh area.Let’s see, NC, NC — sounds like W-S or close by.What brand of shocks did you get and where? I’ve been looking, but haven’t found any yet. Are you using an on board compressor or just the air hose? I’d like to get the rear up, and the front down.Does this group ever have what we call in the TDI Club GTG’s…[Read more]

Good Morning Ringo:Thanks for the kind words. I think she is kind of “purty” myself! She started life Red as witnessed by scrapes here and there. She’ll need a re-paint after I get her all dressed up (bumpers, mirrors, latches, radiator shell, etc.), but her new color will be the same.Silver kind of goes with the roll bars. Thanks Again

Hi Geoff,Frank is still the admin. I believe he sold his MG, but is still pretty active in VW circles. PinkMG and I can do some stuff. But the real admin authority rests with Frank. He manages the site, makes all the updates and works with the hoster. PinkMG is just being his usually hard— self (just kidding Mark!). Ultimately, it’s up to Frank…[Read more]

Hey Bob;
Welcome to the group. I’ve had problems logging on, (thanks Paul and Frank for your help), hope this goes through.
There may be possible roll bar and windshield height problems, but that aside, I can say that I’ve never thought of a replica TD in that color. It’s beautiful! There’s something to be said about modern colors on an old…[Read more] -

I think I sent it to FrankieD but I realize he doesn’t really run the site anymore.
Sorry for the confusion!
And sorry if this is not the proper venue to post the catalog, I just thought people might like to see what parts/current prices are available.
I hope I didn’t rub anyone the wrong way by my last post, It wasn’t my intention, just…[Read more] -

Your car is an IRS rear suspension and needs an aligment. It looks like too much negative camber. This will raise the rear correctly and not affect the ride. The front suspension needs the adjustable beam/leave removal mod to lower the front. Adding spring rate for ride height is not how to properly set up a suspension unless you like a brick like…[Read more]

Great news about the exhaust. Bet it sounds great.
Now you know the dilemma I had when I tried to pull my 4 speed out the bottom. In addition to pulling the engine/trans as a unit, I had to remove the floor hump to get the trans up high enough to pull off the trans crossmember…what a nightmare! My BCW crossmember was welded in place. I cut it o…[Read more]

Unless you’re about 4 feet tall, you’ll have problems seeing out with the roof up. 🙂
While they vary in the details, all the TD kits need a full windshield frame to attach the front of the roof. Some fold over the frame and attach to snaps along the underside of the top of the frame. Classic Roadsters Duchess roofs have a small pocket sewn into…[Read more] -

Hi Bob , That is a really nice TD . As you have already been told ,roll bars are rare on replicas, but would great to have in the event of a rollover.Yours look good and I like the panel that fits behind the seat too.
Is it made so it can be opened to use the storage area beneath it? My cars are London Roadsters which use the MiGi body and hav…[Read more]

Good Morning Paul:I didn’t think you doubted me, but they are a little hard to describe, and as they say “A picture is worth —“.I think I will have to get a new windshield to fit a new top. I like the looks of it too, but it DOES get a little breezy. I’m not sure if wind wings would help the situation. Thanks for the interest, and any suggestions…[Read more]

Pink,
I installed, per your suggestion, a dynamax turbo muffler this weekend sounds great so far in the garage.
thanks for the advise.
Tried also to pull the trans this weekend out the bottom, to replace the flywheel. No way to separate the engine from the automatic so I think my only alternative is to pull the engine and trans as a unit out th…[Read more] -

Hey Bob,
Really, pinkmg and I didn’t doubt you. But it is really rare to see one of these cars with true roll bars. I love the cut down windshield too! -
Mark Hendrickson replied to the topic Daytona Migi Newbie in the forum VW Based Kits 16 years, 2 months ago
As Paul says, those two roll bars are the frame if what he described is what you have. These things don’t have a “real” convertible top frame like a Corvette or other roadsters.
Remember, these cars didn’t have roll-up windows, so the top was pretty much a crude umbrella. -

A former NJRC Member I am still in touch with can tell you the procedures required to get a kit car titled as a “Reconstructed” Vehicle in NJ. If you send me a message (pinkmg@verizon.net) I’ll forward your e-mail to him.
He built a Cadillac powered Allard Replica that went through the entire process. -

Geoff,
I’m note sure if you meant me or Paul Mossberg (or both) by “webmaster”, but due to the nature of that list I would not post it on the this site.
I agree it’s great to have and we surely apppreciate that you got the list and are willing to make it availbale to everyone, but this is not the proper forum to post waht amounts to a commerical…[Read more] -

Hi Bob,What did you mean by “two roll bars”?Are they really roll bars or are they more like electrical conduit?I ask because roll bars are pretty rare with MG TD kits. And the typical MG TD kit roof frame is simply two “hoops” of tubing, about the size of standard conduit.

Good Morning Pink:Thanks for the tip !At this point I don’t even have the frame (only two roll bars). I have used Sunbrella before on my boats, and have found it to be very durable. I think I will get a frame from MG Magic and have it covered locally with Sunbrella.I have lots of work for some good local upholstery shop. (tonneau and seats for the…[Read more]
