I beeped at him and pulled up to him and motioned that he was on fire .. By the time he pulled over. He was luckey he and the girl with him got out…[Read more]

After talking to the very helpful man at MG magic last year I received a price list in the mail one week later. I still have a copy somewhere but it is probably out of date. But if you want, and there is a way to post here, I’ll do my best to send it along.Ringo

There is no such thing…no catalog, no nothing. This is a guy that stockpiled MGTD kit car parts (mostly FiberFab/CMC0 stuff).
I’m not even sure they have e-mailYou need to call these guys on land line.

On these VW’s the best “tin” is the OEM stuff. I suggest you use an OEM “doghouse” and cylinder covers (have the cylinder #’s stamped on them). I’d also invest in those little “baffles” that sit on top of each cylinder jug and split the air travelling over the jug fins.
If you are not running heater boxes, be sure to plug the holes in the doghouse…[Read more] -

Pink,
Thanks. The tin is chrome that the PO put on the engine so I’m in the process of determining if all the correct stuff is there. I know the thermostat is gone but I don’t know about the flaps, etc. The temp is coming from the oil sending unit. Also, the reason I asked about the compartment is that on a bug or a buggy the air can esc…[Read more] -

Where is the temp gauge sender located? If it’s under a head bolt or spark plug (as most air-cooled temp gauges) It will read those 230-240 temps. these are not liquid cooled engines and are clearanced as such when machined.
I’d be more concerned with oil temperature in an air-cooled engine if I were you. Plugged oil coolers are the biggest VW…[Read more] -

Steve Crites replied to the topic Shifter boot in the forum VW Based Kits 16 years, 9 months ago
Mr Bill That boot was on ebay. The link was on the yahoo MGTD site. The sale has ended. I got the same boot at Advance Auto Parts (minus the $9 shipping). You might try there. BTW I got a second boot that works perfectly for an E-brake cover. It took some tucking into the carpet to get it to lie horizontal, but it looks great!

That little brass tube is pressed into the pot metal that the carb body is made of. If you try some Marine-Tex epoxy it may stay put.
Also, score the outside of the tune with some pliers or wire cutters. This will also help keep it in place when you use the epoxy. Be sure it’s Marine-Tex (available at decent boat suppy).
Or you could buy a new…[Read more] -

It is easy to find every part you need for your MP in Brazil…unfortunately not as easy here in the States. (If you can handle Portuguese) Toninho, or Tony is your best source. His numbers are (011-5511) 4352-0901 – shop or (011-5511) 9540-6788 cel. Good luck!
