Hey Wendy,
Make sure they know you have a Classic Roadsters Duchess. each of these cars has their own quirks. And a top intended for a Migi or Fiberfab etc will probably not fit the Duchess. -

Thanks again especially for the information for MG Magic for the tops. You guys have been a great help.

Thanks so much everybody. Actually I have never been in a chat room before so this is pretty cool that I received so many responses. They were all very helpful. I never thought about a boat shop! I have since taken it to a mechanic just to get a tune-up. I was having trouble with my wipers. He said I need another wiper motor. I don’t know i…[Read more]

Bill, I’ve gotten my Fiberfab TD now, and compared it to the picture of yours, and (besides the fact that yours is in much better shape overall), the tires on yours definitely look better – mine actually poke out past the fenders. My car has 195 75R 14’s on it, and not only do they look wrong, but the right front tire also scrapes the bumper at…[Read more]

Hey Paul, I too kept the stock VW tire and my cars handle just fine..I got my latest set from a place near Douglasville..can’t think of the name right now but I’ll get the info for you. Also, the name of my VW man out there who is a mechanic for AirTran Airways as his “full time” job got them for me and worked on my engine, brakes, etc. An…[Read more]

Hi Paul,
Not sure what you’re looking for. But some thoughts on stock VW vs “oversize”…
The stock VW tire is a 165 R 15. But I’ve seen many VW replicas with wider than stock tires and wheels. take a look through the galleries and cars on this site, and you’ll see lotsof variety. I don’t have personal experience with non-stock sizes on my…[Read more] -
Paul Mossberg replied to the topic Dutchess Door Strikers in the forum VW Based Kits 17 years, 10 months ago
Classic Roadsters used reproduction TD parts for the door latch and striker.
Part 35 in the diagram (item 401-420) is the mounting plate at $7.65 each. It’s hard to tell if it includes just the plate or also the striker. I would call Moss and tell them what you need.

I have a similar question, but for the Chevette-based Fiberfab TD. I don’t like the rusty wire-wheel hubcaps installed on the car I’m buying – has anyone figured out which wheels and hubcaps would work on a Chevette to get the (non-wire-wheel) TD look?
Thanks! -
Bill Hursh replied to the topic Fiberfab Chevette TD question in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 17 years, 10 months ago
I don’t. My car has smooth chrome wheels with a spoked basket which bolts on where the hub cap commonly goes. They arn’t real spokes but they do look 10 times better than the cheesy spoked hubcaps. I think MG magic in Fla can help or try any auto/ speed shop and you should be able to find them.
Good luck, Bill

Thanks for your speedy reply. If I keep the 14″ wheels, can I ask what size tires you use? And can I ditch the fake (rusty) wire wheel hubcaps that came with it? If so do you know where to get authentic-looking hubcaps that would work with the chevette wheels? guiman39259.1743055556

Hey Hamish,
Post a picture or two. If no one here knows about the car, one of the kit car magazines has a columnist that focuses on vintage kits. By coincdence, I think his name is Harold Pace.
I don’t have access to my magazines this week. But when I return, I’ll dig up the mag, check the name and send you an addresss.
I’d bet with a photo or…[Read more] -

Wendy,
For what it’s worth, two friends in NJ had tops made at boat shops.

Wendy,I am not sure what part of the dash face you need, but MG Magic has the whole wooden dash in stock.(or they did) They sell the tops with the side curtains included. They are no longer making up carpet kits up though. He does have a few sets left in burgundy and red right now.I called him a week ago to order two carpet sets in tan or brown and…[Read more]

Well, things have changed. No money had changed hands and it was sold
from under her. It was a good thing as there was a lot of rust underneath
and needed a new rolling chassis. I was glad it went and she finally agreed it
was going to be a money pit. Thank you all for the information.A tangent, web man please forgive. I found a 1934 Pace Racer…[Read more]
