By “lift” do you mean raise the suspension ride height?

  • Thanks for reply, I have since found a switch that worked with a bit of tweaking. Now another ? looking for the brackets that mount the badges to front 3/4 ” bar…any info on where to locared these ? I live in a very remote area and have to shop for everything on the net…160 Miles to the closest stop light..

  • There are several aftermarket electrical vendors that have these plunger style switches. It looks like it a standard style screw-in switch that they mounted to the aluminum plate, then screwed the plate to the door jam.
Painless Wiring, Ron Francis Wire Works, American Autowire are a few. I’ll bet yours is available at a local jobber that has a…[Read more]

You didn’t break any Rule per say… just letting everyone know that reply by email will not post the reply in the forums and only sends an email to my webmaster email account thus making me the only one…[Read more]

  • If we knew more about the switch, we could answer your question. Is it a door operated plunger? a toggle? a rocker”, built in to the light? Can you post a picture?
Also, I have a stupid question. Where is the “dome” light in your MGTD?
There are no more MGTD kit car manufacturers or “dealers” left. However, you may try MG Magic in Miami, Flo…[Read more]

    Thanks for the input, Pink.
Another source for a harness is American Auto / Marine Wiring, http://www.customwiring.com.  They have a harness specifically for the MIGI, as well as for a number of other TD replicas and kit cars.  I may eventually buy a complete harness, but first I would like to assess how much of the old wiring is bad.  I’d also like…[Read more]

  • Have either of you considered buying a pre-made, aftermarket wiring harness? They are available for all sorts of applications with multiple circuit quantities too.
Some of the manufacturers are Painless Wiring, Centech, Ron Francis.
These kits make life easy and are worth the $$ savings in just headache prevention.

I just started the resurrection process on a MIGI with a fried wiring harness.  I, too, would like to know where to get a wiring diagram.  Maybe also a complete wiring harness.
    Thanks.

To keep the engine cool you need to follow the design of the German engineers of the beetle by separating the cool air side of the engine from the hot air side.  I fabricated a floor and side walls for my engine compartment out of sheet metal and made sure all the engine cooling tin was installed.
Also make sure that fresh air can enter the c…[Read more]

  • I just retitled mine as a streetrod in Maryland — Rules allow for 25 calendar years and substantial modification — exempts me from the annual emissions inspection and the inspection at the time of transfer of title — do not know if NY has same type of category

  • For those of you who might be interested, the shop bolted a small clutch pedal about 6 inches in front and to the side of the the existing clutch.  They bolted this pedal to the floor and connected it to the existing clutch with a rod.  This rod is easily removed and the new pedal can fold down flat on the floor and be covered by the mat.  Thi…[Read more]

  • where can I download the wire diagram?

  • The shop will have our MG ready on Tuesday.  I’ll let you all know how it worked out.  Thanks everyone.  Big

  • If you decide to move the pedals, Classic Roadsters assembly manual had excellent instructions. I’d be gladto photocopy them and send them along.
In addition to shortening the clutch and acelerator cables and moving the pedal cluster…
Those cables run in tubes within the center tunnel. You need to cut those tubes, deburr the cuts and reattach…[Read more]

  • By the way…my driver’s seat bottom was nearly on the floor and the pedals were spaced for my 6’3.5″/260 lb size. It was comfortable for me but everyone else that sat in it looked like a little old lady…all you could see was hair (or lack of it) and knuckles!

  • The best and easiest way to get the pedals closer is to do what is described above by Merlin:
The other common method was to remove the existing pedal cluster from the donor car, cut a new hole in the side of the tunnel and re-install the pedal cluster in the original manner to the side of the tunnel by shortening the cables inside the tunnel to…[Read more]

  • Thank you one and all for your help.  Presently the MG is at an antique car shop and the mechanics are trying to figure out the best way to adjust the pedals.  I will be sure to pass on all this info to them.  It should get them thinking in the right direction.  I’ll let you all know what they end up doing.  Thanks and have a great day everyone…..BigKrup

  • Paul is correct, most MGTD’s came with a steel wheel and a “dog dish” hub cab.
I sold a 1/2 completed Ford based MGTD that had direct bolt wire wheels that were made by Cragar in the early 80’s. They were called Cragar Tru-Spokes.
Those wheels were painted cream colored and had a dark green pinstripe. THEY REQUIRED TUBES and would never stay…[Read more]
