Well, well, well.
If you had only waited a couple weeks, you could have picked up an original 1931 Type 51 for only $4 million! I bet you feel pretty silly now! 😀

Ed’s reasoning that the Brooklands is the reason for Bill’s time improvement is certainly simpler than my suggestions….and the simplest solution is usually the right one.
Maybe Ed meant Occam’s Razor’s edge vs racer’s edge???

And there you have it, folks: proof (as if any were needed) that the Brooklands aero screen is the racer’s edge.

I like the Ebrake lever. It’ll be interesting to know if it operates only the rt brake or if it works both brakes.

I like your new car, mostly for its boat tail, but what were they thinking when putting shag carpet in it!? Sound deadening maybe?
Looks like a better body design than those other two on ebay, although at only $4500 for the one in Vegas sure would tempt me if in that area. And I don’t have space for another car. The “100000 miles” on it makes me…[Read more]

FYI. I felt that extending the studs was not viable because I have no experience doing that, nor do I have a lift, or extra gaskets. I did everything from under the car while laying on the floor, and there are just some limits to what you can do like that. Instead I filed a little bit off the bottom of each cap nut so it was a shorter reach…[Read more]

There are currently two Bugatti tributes on eBay; one in Las Vegas, the other in southern CA. Since I’m in Ill. either would have meant a flight west, plus hotel, car rental, etc. just to look at them. Both are priced to sell. The one in CA was listed earlier for $8000+, so they’ve relisted it at a lower reserve. They have some nice features, and…[Read more]

Bill, did you make any changes to your TDr’s chassis, tires or drive train? Or, do you attribute your improved times to driving with more derring-do?

As its a race against the clock, I am pleased I ran 2 seconds quicker than last year. 😎👍🚗💨

Ok John, I am really going to confuse you now. I live in Tampa, Fl, and the temps here in the summer average about 93 degrees, maybe hotter. (So says the local weather channel). When I restored Herbie 1 year ago, I had my 1968 VW engine rebuilt by “Fisher Buggies”. They only work on VW’s, and specifically build Racing VW engines, and build Dune…[Read more]

Was able to purchase this car from a friend who had found it in Tennessee. It has sat in his yard so long not running and needed a good bit of work and items to make it drivable. I have enjoyed working on it and am not finished by no means. -

Bill, I have to admire your attitude: “I came in last again in Special 2. Damn, its fun. 😀”
I wish (I really do) that I could be happy not winning. It is a character flaw of mine, that I have to be competitive (at least threatening to win) to enjoy whatever I do, whether playing the guitar or the organ, or in sports, or at work, or golf etc…[Read more]

Interesting that another one of these would turn up, since I’d never heard or seen one of them before Steve’s post.

The great Ed Ericson arrived Friday evening and we left early Saturday morning for Mt. Penn. After breakfast Ed got to the workers meeting just in time. He was positioned at Turn 8 with a pair of older women ex drivers. They decorated their post as a gypsy camp complete with crystal ball. Burma Shave style signs advertised palm readings, tarot…[Read more]
