Here’s a shot of the rear of the car too with the funky 80’s hollow squre stock chrome travel rack that looks to be some sort of towel bar!

Thanks Langan. Was thinking that may be the issue – I charge it – it runs fine but I was probably running lights, radio, heater blower, etc. off the battery and when I stopped the thing was dead.
Yesterday it sat dead for a while in front of NAPA. We tested it and the battery had nothing in it. Then it sat for a while and in the process of pu… -

BTW yours is the only one I have seen were rear tires are in correct spot . Centered in fender. I have a chevette kit to but mine is the cheeper virsion. Buggy style windshield and flat headlight metal. Yours is way nice. Mine is going SBC for power

Needs alternator. There is both the Chevy and Ford manuals a viable for down load on this site. Not really usefully but good to have. Chevette is pretty bassic. I would have alt.tested or go to single wire unit and just stare at rewire of car. It looks totally worth it. Is the hood steel?

I
am exactly at this stage of building a never started kit. I cut the column extender to get the steering wheel out of my belly. I thought the kink in the disk was the result of taking out a little too much. added some washers and reduced some of the distortion. I have convinced myself that the disk was designed into the car because steel on…[Read more] -

Hood opens on either side with a hinge down the middle like a TF. Cable actuated from inside for passenger (battery) side of engine and then a spring hook inside for other side.
Drove it around Saturday (was warm here – in the 50’s) and by the end of the day the battery was dead (!?!) and I had to roll it to get it started. Ordered a new ba… -

Thanks for all the feedback. Found this replica on eBay and the previous owner was not a car guy so knew very little about the car or its history. He said he was the second owner and according to the VIN, it was built in Nebraska in 1999. Based on the timing cover codes, the engine is a 1974 Mustang II 2.8L. Have not identified the tra…[Read more]

Dual exhausts don’t indicate VW here, not with that transmission or with that floorboard. What strikes me is the incredibly good body panel fitment, the folding windshield, the wipers at the top of the windshield, the original-style top, and original style headlamp mounts. Never seen wire wheels like that on a replica, either. If all I saw wa…[Read more]

This car also has no exterior door latches, no gas cap on the tank, the license plate looks like it would be on the drivers side rear fender, there are dual exhausts (VW engined). Front bumper is from an original car, no over-riders, front turn signals appear to be original with white (English) rather than amber crystals.I’m still pretty new t…[Read more]

Looks to be a front engined automatic transmission. What manufacturer of TDr’s has concealed bonnet hinges other than BCW? That convinced me of its heritage. Granted, there are many customizations.

Could be a BCW, but I don’t think so. This car looks like no other replica I have seen.
The wiper is up top, and it shows no plinth for them on the cowl. That is custom. The dash is BCW-shaped but everything in/on it is custom.Seats are not BCW, nor is any of the fabric in the interior BCW style. All custom. The fold down windshield could be BCW but… -

I like the color combo. I don’t recall seeing another one like it. Definitely a unique approach on the dash layout. Wires!!

Sorry to hear about you having to sell your car. I agree your daughters education is more important. You may want to check out the Federal Direct Student Loan program, that schools offer. I did to avoid selling Herbie, as the car actually saved my wife and my life. So Herbie has been a important part of the family for the last 30 years.I am on the…[Read more]

Alright, thanks for the suggestions. It’ll be a while before I’m looking it over. No heated garage for my car so going to wait until the outside temps get into the 50’s again.
I’ve got to remove my steering wheel and broken turn signal switch anyhow so maybe I can find out what’s going on at the upper end, if anything is wrong there.New gear box… - Load More
