Bill, for me the tree icon does not work to post my pictures anymore. I’m not sure why??
same goes for these emoticons, I have to right click-copy and then right click-paste on the new page. That’s the only way I can get pictures on here now. Montie.. Oh and welcome to the forum..

Bill, welcome. This site has a lot of help and we all are willing to give advice. I would recommend spending some time exploring the search function. The icon that looks like a tree is the one that lets you upload pics. When you figure that out, don’t forget to register. Not to sound trite but, the more questions you ask, the more answers you’ll get.

Agree with Ed. Rods are not a common problem. Rocker arms & pushrods are more common issues, for example.

Probably not a rod knock then. These are noisy little engines. Pinhole exhaust leak can sound like a knock. So can other stuff. I thought I had one last year & now pretty sure I didn’t.
It’s not that it never happens. But it’s not something that happens all that often. -

Thanks to all for the helpful info. However, bad news. I got the carb adjusted and the engine started up just fine.Drove just a couple of miles and came home.Next morning I fired it up again and it sounds as though a rod is knocking. Not sure what happened.Everything seemed to be fine. Temp.,oil press. etc.

I had the rusted-out tank in my Lafer replaced with a 10-gallon circle track fuel cell — #547-200-010-01 — made by JAZ. It’s a good fit, and the foam filling keeps fuel from sloshing around on curves and corners. One drawback is that I haven’t found a sending unit that works with my VDO fuel gauge. Like Paul and Dennis, though, I think the mo…[Read more]

Ed, while we all would love to stand at I around Bridget and marvel at your work, I think that we all, including you Ed, know that Steve is right. Maybe next year.

Duct tape…lots and lots and lots of duct tape. That’s the answer!
Just wrap Bridget in stretch wrap and then cover that with duct tape. I’m pretty sure most of the unattached/loose pieces will still be there when you arrive at Carlisle 2014.Seriously, it sounds like it would be more trouble than it is worth trying to take Bridget to Carlisle on a… -

Still pondering whether I should drag Bridget to the show or not. On the good side: the wheels are on. The engine and trans are in. I can (and have) fit all the body parts back on so she looks complete. I could do this.
But on the bad side, right now the old wires are sort of dangling down near the drive axles, so I’d have to pin that up somehow.… -

The fan bolt holes are a little off from the rad bolt holes. The shroud will probably line up with the fan bolts. I’ll post pics.
