Just to make you guys a little jealous, here’s a pair of Christmas goodies all the way from England. It helps to have a daughter that lives in London.

My Chrysler Crossfire had no spare from the factory. It came with a can of Fix-a-flat and a small compressor. No spare is not too unusual now.

Also re-do your grounds. And if that doesn’t get it, get new bulbs.

Do they have a relay in the circuit? If not, consider adding one for each circuit (dim and bright), with the positive side fed directly from the battery with a large enough gauge wire. Locate them closer to the headlights, so there’s as little current drop as possible.
Then, the current circuit through the switches just controls the on/off and d… -

My Lafer is VW-powered so the spare is stowed up front. I’ve owned it since February 2007, and in all that time have never been stranded with a flat. Wondering lately if I might jettison the spare altogether and use the space for a small tool kit and a couple cans of Fix-A-Flat instead. Thoughts?

If you’re talking about the one that used to be held at the Vintage off 249 & Louetta, I did go to one very early on. Drool-worthy machines, but WAY out of this old newspaperman’s bracket. I have been known to visit the Niftee50s gathering from time to time. Maybe we met there.

Bill, I learned how to play years ago while recovering from a commercial airplane crash (the first 9/11 crash in 1974). Dr’s orders if I wanted to be able to continue using my hands. This is one of 2 in my house that I play daily. Just over two years ago, I had 10 organs in my garage that I had repaired and was giving to various churches and ot…[Read more]

Roy, I didn’t know you played. a new organ for Christmas or just using the sheet music as a Christmas wish?I spent early morning in the garage. Try as he might, David couldn’t figure out the Lug centric wire wheels before I got home yesterday. It’ been so long I forgot what a PIA they were to get on and off.
Merry Christmas, everyone.

Mine is a CMC Ford powered with the spare and luggage rack on the back. It is a real spare and I carry all sort of things on the rack, lawn chairs (bag type, coolers even a suit case if we go over night. I looked under it and there is not much reinforcing it, just a steel bar about a foot long with the studs for the spare.

It all depended on the manufacturer’s design.
Classic Roadster Ltd.’s Duchess used steel “z-bars” as the engine cover hinge and a support for an external spare tire.Inteh pic below, you can see the black bar running behind the spare. Under the spare is a steel structure that extends through a hole in the engine cover, bends behind the f… - Load More
