An additional comment on the Classic Roadsters Ltd. approach…
The firewall in a Duchess goes straight down to the floor. The tank is mounted on the VW pan and the filler pipe runs out the front of the tank, and up through the radiator cap.
The replicas that use a VW gas tank typically have the fiberglass molded to allow the tank to “drop…[Read more]

I had a lot of fun with that over the years! Amazing how many people would try to stop my, usually with a “hey idiot, what are you doing” attitude!

Not sure how I missed seeing this for a few months! My printer is offline at the moment, though hopefully back operational soon. I’ll send you one for free. Private message me your address.
Give me a few weeks though, need to wrap up the semester (work at a college) before I’ll have free time.

I was having the same problem with my CMC. A quick fix that has held up quite well for me was to install “old school” air shocks. The parts store had to order them for me and said he couldn’t remember the last set he’d sold. After I installed them put about 3 to 5 pounds of air pressure and never bottomed out again. That’s been four years ago.

Ed,
The car looks OUTSTANDING!!!! DO NOT SELL IT…. You need to keep it until you can buy another fine kit. That way you have an in-place reference to use in building the “new” kit….
THEN you can sell this beautiful blue “better than an original” “tribute” Porsche 550 RS Spyder……
THEN you can buy another and build it and then sell it…[Read more]

Mine has some mild pitting and rust under the headlamp mount, as well as a wrinkled fin. Once I get the car through enhanced inspection, titled, and on the road, I’ll take the grill off the car, straighten the fin, then send it out to be re-chromed. While I’m at it, I’ll remove the crooked MG badge and put it back on straight. The previous owner…[Read more]
