I haven’t seen anything about Knotts Berry Farm’s kit car show. I think they still have their Mustang and Fabulous Fords car show but I have a feeling that the kit car show is a thing of the past…Never the less, they are all closed up due to this quarantine. Even Disneyland is closed!!! I could always hear the nightly fireworks show, from my house…I sure miss it. I can’t wait until we can return to some kind of reality!
I pray that Carlisle remains a go, for our East Coast friends. We can all use an escape, even if only through pictures and great stories!
April 3, 2020 at 10:31 am #306530Just got email that Carlisle has been rescheduled to Aug 14-16.
April 3, 2020 at 1:19 pm #306531Yep.
Here’s the link to the show postponement notice.
I spoke to Alan Merklin today and he’s going to try to get the hotel to just shift everyone’s reservations—meals inclusive—to the new week. I’ll let you know how that goes. Obviously, you can still cancel if you can’t make the new date. If you were waiting & had not yet made your hotel reservation, I advise you to hold off for another minute until after Alan does what he’s doing.
Frankly I’m relieved. I didn’t think it made sense to hold this in May, though late June or July could’ve worked. As of now I’ll hope to see you all in August.
April 4, 2020 at 3:55 pm #306535kind of figured that would happen . call or e-mail me when you get an answer Ed . stay safe everybody
April 5, 2020 at 8:29 pm #306537Alan shifted all the reservations to August. Go ahead and make yours if you haven’t already. Same procedure as explained above. Call Charity direct at the Shippensberg Marriott and tell her your with us.

April 5, 2020 at 9:06 pm #306540It sure sounds fun, yet it should be hit and humid in Pennsylvania in August. Maybe someday I will be able to attend this event with you all.
April 5, 2020 at 9:09 pm #306541Hot, not hit. I haven’t figured out if I can edit my post.
April 12, 2020 at 2:33 pm #306559Happy Easter Everyone
I’m sorry for starting a new subject on the Carlisle topic but I can’t figure out how to start a new thread yet. Yup, still your Village idiot!
I just wanted to wish you all a happy Easter and to tell you that I found this cool video on You Tube!
Look up “Classic Cars in Movies-MG TD”…It’s a history of our cars in Film! It was posted back in march and I just found it so I’m still calling it Hot out of the Oven!!! Hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
Much Love, My Brothers and Sisters…
And Please stay safe!!!
July 8, 2020 at 4:24 pm #307060Carlisle 2020 Cancellation… A
fter holding out as long as possible for Covid – 19 situation to improve and after much sole searching, both Alan Merklin and I have decided that in the best interest of health and safety to cancel our Carlisle 2020 event. This was very difficult decision. We are sure that this is disappointing to all of our TDr extended family. There is just too much of a risk factor not only for the attendees but other members of our families and our other daily contacts. Jeff Deitrick at the Hotel has already been notified with a 30 day notice by phone and email . Be sure to call the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel desk that number is 717 477 0680 to cancel your reservations at your first opportunity .
Stay safe and we’ll hopefully see you all for Carlisle 2021.

July 8, 2020 at 7:03 pm #307062Can’t say I didn’t see this coming. Maybe things will improve enough to enjoy VA Beach this fall.

"Drive Happy"July 9, 2020 at 10:53 am #307063Unfortunate but I guess the sign of the times – looking forward to VA Beach even more – hope that works out.
July 10, 2020 at 7:54 am #307068It is reported that Carlisle Events will change your showfield registration to 2021 on request. I’ve not requested this yet but at least a couple of guys have.
July 11, 2020 at 4:21 pm #307071So Guys.. this is really strange!
On hearing that the Carlisle event was cancelled I called the Marriott as suggested and they told me that ALL registrations had been cancelled already.
I then called Carlisle events to get my registration pushed to next year and they said they have definitely NOT cancelled and the event will go ahead as planned. When I said that my club was suggesting that we push the registration until next year or get a refund, I was told that neither was an issue as the event was still on.
Is it just us that have cancelled and how hard do you have to push for a refund?
July 11, 2020 at 10:01 pm #307073At this point I think the show itself is still on at the Carlisle Show field ( but who knows what could happen in the future ) but the organizers of the Speedsters/Spyders and TDr’s get together that weekend have canceled our meeting. I believe you can push your registration from this year to next if you ask as others have already done. It will then have you set up for next May or whenever it is set up for next year. I am sure the Carlisle show event staff is trying to hold onto as much money as possible as many will most likely cancel out.
July 12, 2020 at 12:13 pm #307074Dale has it exactly right.
Speedster Owners Group (and by extension, TD Owners Group–that’s us) threw in the towel. I expect that Carlisle Events will do everything in their power to soldier on, and they have already faced down a state lawsuit attempting to shut down a previous show.
And I expect that the Import fans, especially the younger, fartcan-oriented ones, will still attend. Indeed, one of the reasons we oldsters decided to bag it was the prospect of being in close proximity to the no-fucks-given kids who even now are enjoying yard parties, cookouts and other non-socially-distant large group activities, sans masks. Many of them will become carriers and spreaders of Covid-19 even though comparatively few of them will experience severe symptoms.
