I replaced all of my instruments, including speedometer obtained from Classic Instruments. At the time, 2011, they sold a adapter for VW, a cable that fit square home in front wheel bearing cap with electronic transducer that interfaced with speedometer.
I have been running a PerTronix electrotonic ignition and associated coil in my 1776 since I build it about 20 years ago. Happy with performance, no regrets. Still carry set of ordinal points in car as backup.
Agree with Ed. When I had my top made about 20 years ago the canvas shop wanted about $150 more than the stock top from MG Magic. As a plus they inserted a nylon piece at front of top where it goes into the slot in windshield frame. I have never had an issue with top coming off at speed.
Will need to pass on Carlisle this year. Haven’t seen the grandkids in NC for over a year. They will both be playing in baseball tournaments the same weekend as Carlisle. Wife and I have gotten both doses if the vaccine and have decided the baseball tournament’s is a event we can’t miss. Looking forward to 2022!
I had the same problem. I cut off the turn signal arm and drilled hole and threaded. Took a length of 1/8″ threaded rod and bent to desired shape, covered it with a piece of fuel line and added a knob. A bolt at connection point locks it in place so it won’t turn.
