Did you by chance, in the effort of pulling off and changing the fuel lines, knock that one little wire thingie off your carb? Idle solenoid!

Look for that wire with a spade connector that’s attached to nothing. If you find it, plug it into the spade on that thing on your carb. Done.

@schu – I don’t think that’s the problem.  The fuel line below the tank is new and the car was working fine after I installed the shut off valve.  I will run that test tonight or tomorrow to make sure but I don’t think that’s the problem.  I’ll let you know what comes up.

One other thought

If the fuel line just below the tank is old and you clamped it as I suggested maybe it collapsed inside when it was clamped while installing the shut-off valve and filter on that end. Thanks for the tips, David.  Tried all that.  Replaced the new filter with the old filter.  Replaced all the fuel lines.  Finally gave up and put everything back the way it was before I moved the filter.  And guess what?  Still having the same problem.  Time to take it to the mechanic.

They all want the earlier tank because the filler neck in the later one is laid down to accommodate the external fuel door. You can use that one in a TDr but you’ll have to relocate the filler neck as described. If you need an new tank it’s easier to get the older style tank & shorten the neck. Just over one week away. Timing issue has yet to be resolved. Pick an arrival time you want and I’ll adjust my departure time accordingly.

Just get the early one–61-67. You might need to cut the filler neck down a couple inches. Test fit carefully, scribe it and then take it to a muffler shop to be cut and welded before you clean the Cosmoline out. They’ll charge you $20 or $30 to do it. Maybe less you you tell them what it’s for and come in with a six-pack.
