I roped Karen into the local MG club’s Get the Dust Off ralleye a coule years ago. With no trip odometer or stopwatch, it was something of a challenge. We did not win but, remarkably, we did not come in last.

I realize its only July, but is there enough interest to contact the Hotel for group discount rates? We have three with Roy, Jack and myself. Paul, you can run with me and pick up Ed and then grab Shu again. Gabe, you can hook up along the way. It would make a splendid parade.

What else do you do when you have two body kits?

Visibility is bad enough with the tops up without the limited view through an even smaller opening.

I also have hagerty at $250, valued at $12k with 0 deductible. Annie is kept at ‘my house’ during the summer and locked up during the winter.Made a claim for a crack in my windshield recently and Hagerty have been brilliant!!!

edward ericson replied to the topic Classic Car Insurance in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 3 months ago
They want you to insure for higher value because it allows them to charge a higher premium. I think the first couple companies I called (Hagerty may have been one of them) did not want to touch anything under $10k. I bought my car for $3500. I’ve got it insured for like $5k-$6k and the premium is about $110.

edward ericson replied to the topic synthetic oil in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 3 months ago
I use synthetic or semi-synthetic in the daily drivers to stretch the time between changes and because it may lubricate better in the mean time.
Bridget gets regular oil because, as an air-cooled VW with no oil filter, I need to change her oil every 1500 miles or less, owing to the amount of “fuel wash” her magnesium engine naturally causes.Dig?I… -

In MD it’s antique after 25 years. So my 1982 build date rated the “Historic” tag–never mind the ’69 chassis, ’66 engine or ’52 styling.

No “rear body panels” for the hill climb? Time to post pics of that, Bill! You talking about the fiberglas pseudo-“gas tank?”

Me guessing here but I’d think less bolt is better. I believe I read on that Ghia racer’s thread that the snubbers get cut about in half on their application, which woud suggest there is less than full metal inside the snubber.

Well, the fabricator stopped by this evening and he had quite a time getting his head around what I wanted to accomplish. He agreed the removable running board modification was a good idea. Two support tubes that would run rearward from the main hoop by my head posed a puzzle. I told him that the cage was the priority and that the fiberglass…[Read more]
