That is one possibility. 83/81…? I went all non-highway the first year. I’ll have to get a map to see what that road was.

Just so everyone is clear: this mess is going to bother those coming from points NORTH. All us in MD and Dixie are relatively unaffected, right Paul?

GOOD NEWS UPDATE: Well, the situation is changed. Almost no backfiring now. I can make it backfire only by revving way up and getting off. Even then, not every time and more of a “poot” than the old sound, which was like the report of a 9mm Glock on the firing range. The new sound is more like a misfiring spud gun.BUT this (Bad news update): took…[Read more]

Well, I took a look at a post on the Speedster Board and it gave me an idea: Later engines–the ones that came with the 34 PICT carb–were timed at 5 degrees After TDC, not straight up or 7.5 before, as I’ve had it. So I retarded my timing and reset the carb this morning. That did nothing, except, maybe, hurt acceleration just a little.Tonight I…[Read more]

Thanks, Roy. I’ll consider.Really thinking the carb is fine though–it was a year or two old when I bought the car.Pretty sure the problem here is, as Click & Clack say, “the big nut behind the steering wheel.” I’ll let you know by the end of the weekend.

Number three was the “normal” amount of “too tight” when I first adjusted them two years ago. That is to say, the guage just barely fit at 004.Last year she was still OK at 006.As you know, these figures are not indicative of a big problem, as 004 was the correct spec when the engine was made. All that said, I have never looked at this engine at…[Read more]

Uh oh. (Cross-posted from the Speedster site), via Dr. Clock:
There was a oil tanker fire today on the ramp from northbound
Interstate 81 to westbound Route 22/322 in the Harrisburg
area….traffic detours are a mess beyond discription. ….they say RT
81 North will be closed at this point for a number of days until they
can demolish the bridge… -

Progress…Doors are mounted. Latch, door check, and new lock installed left side. Picked up real nice leather door check straps and locking door catches from a supplier in the UK. My doors will not open on their own ever again.

Donna has not committed to the autox.Roy, my son is traveling with us to Carlisle, so he has room to haul almost anything. The car he’s bringing is totally gutted.I’m all for the cookout with Wobby, then a cruise to downtown.

Roy – I was not sure either – the cruise sounds like fun – maybe the cruise and then our own cookout and downtown? I am open to the majority as well.

hope this helps . . .
(This is an original TD cluster I adapted to my replica. The horn button and ignition switch are original/repops, as are the power plugs. Everything else is either from the BCW kit or could have been.)
