Look like maybe Toyota wheels. 16 holes. They are a pretty good likeness but with the true TD/ A hubcaps they’d be that much closer.BTW, Dick, Roy has blazed the trail re “real wires.” If you get the TR3/4 hub mounts and drill your hubs to 4 x 4.5–and you look close to that now–you can just bolt the hubs on and mount the “proper” MWS/Dunlap 15 x…[Read more]

I have a customer who worked off the floor with jacks for years. There was no height to install a lift. Two years ago he poured a new floor in the shop and sunk two boxes in the floor containing mid rise lifts. He engineered a lip on the edge of the box to install metal plates to cover the lifts, resulting in a flush floor. Another customer with…[Read more]

Seven-inches minimum height gives me pause too. Good luck, Roy. Pain sucks.

OK so here’s my good news today, and some of you-all might want to copy this. The long story is here, at my blog.
The Reader’s Digest abridged version: The chrome bead that goes on top of the dash was a bit pitted (the original, 60-year-old-one, I mean).
Moss has the whole bead kit for a measly $223. But I like cheap. So I got this for $13.95…[Read more] -

Great looking BCW, Dick. You may have answered elsewhere, but where did those wheels come from? Very TD-ish.As for the Air Injection Reaction pump (TM), I suspect very strongly that every car that had one would run better and cleaner without. It’s technology from the “dilute it” era of pollution control, pumping air into the exhaust manifold…[Read more]

Thanks, Gabor. I think that’s about how it’s going to go down. I didn’t thin the Pelucid at all and probably should have for the last coats. It should knock down with a bit of sand paper. I’ll tape off the edges when it comes down to the sponge block and rubbing compound. Was hoping it would somehow be easier….

If it were me I would try to lift the car up about a foot all around with jack stands. I would put them under the suspension points too, to recreate as well as possible the “on-road” loads and stresses on the pan. Then measure the body again & make sure it was right exactly where I wanted it. Then try to secure it somehow–clamps,…[Read more]

Vertical shock placement for “ride”…angled for increased handling…or find a happy medium.Definitely looking good.

After three coats of Pelucid the dash is glossy and gorgeous–but if you turn it in the light, brush marks are very evident.
The plan now is to block it out with 220 grit after Wednesday and apply
the Helmsman. I worry that the brush application will give me the same
slightly wavy, marked effect I have now.The testers I’m copying sprayed…[Read more]
