Roy: that’s how I look when I’m happy. So I try to stay unhappy.Bill: right! That photo is credited to “Jack Webster Collection” It was taken at Elkart Lake in 1952–probably the Kimberly Cup race on Sept 6.I note from the available record that there was no #65 listed, but William Taylor was listed as the MG above #64.The name on the number 68…[Read more] -

OK, Roy, You can get it after Schu. It’s a quick read.I got mine as a Christmas gift last year and I think it came from ebay. It’s a 1972 printing. I think the original was 1954 or 5.

Excellent idea. Now when you wear the goggles, you can see where you’re going. I couldn’t help notice, you modeled them in front of a photo of an airborne MG.

And in a related matter: Finally got my Halcyons fitted to my prescription. This took some
doing, since the split lenses are proprietary & I could not get a
LensCrafter or similar to touch ’em.
Solution: Grabbed an old pair of glases–same prescription as I
wear now, more or less. And siliconed them into the Halcyon lenses.Started by putting…[Read more] -

Ya know, looking at the design of the Chevette engine, with its cross-flow head and tubular, tri-Y exhaust manifold, it looks like it should make more than 80 horsepower–or be more readily hot-roddable–than it apparently is. Born in the wrong decade?edsnova2013-02-02 11:13:25

Good on ya, Ed. Hope to see more of this car & it’s new owner, and you should feel free to hang around too if you want. BTW, is that a “Schweppes Special” script badge on the bonnet? I’ve never seen that.

How much of that pipe is really needed to hold the springs in place? I ask because it looks to me like if you give ’em two coils each with the springs uncompressed, you’re gonna have scant travel once the weight is on ’em. Oh, yeah, and again: Holy crap you do clean, nice work!edsnova2013-02-01 20:26:12

Corvair, but under 2000 CC? That must be breathed on heavily, no?I’d love to meet you there and do some stuff, Paul. Looks like the country cruise is limited to 60 cars, so we probably better move fast if that’s the play.Devin–they clean up nice.

Back in 2003 I sold the Chevy II I’d had since childhood. I’d been out of work 8 months and my housemate was leaving, putting pressure on my ability to pay the mortgage. Friends who had agreed to pay me for handyman work were coming up short, too–and slow. Then, all at once, things got better, as they will for you too.
