edward ericson replied to the topic Mixed Bag, Want Better Brakes in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 11 months ago
why, again, can’t you get the master cylinder out?I ask because maybe it’s too small for the brakes. You might get better brakes if you put a proportion valve in it to hold back some juice from the rears, which–coming from a 240-26-280 z car–are probably bigger (and require more fluid) than the Chevette brakes they replaced. Check with the…[Read more]

Ah, for the Cobra. I was wondering who I’d missed with meatballs on their TD.Thanks for the link. RatRacing is in the running. I might go local though.I want to get all done for under $50. Especially since I might end up not liking it…

edward ericson replied to the topic 3rd Brake light in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 11 months ago
I put a 3-inch diameter trailer light (something like $6 at Auto Zone) on a bit of galvanized angle steel I had left over from a garage door hanging. Bolted that to the license plate so the big light sticks up. This was one of the first things I did to the car, so small and weak and low are the TD’s tail lights. So far, so good.

Nice.I drove Bridget to the grocery store to pick up some lettuce. There was one perfect tomato left from the garden and I wanted a final BLT of the season.Guy walks over to the car as I’m leaving. “I want that car,” he says. “How much would you sell it for?””Well,” I said, “since there’s no ‘for sale’ sign on it and you’re coming to me, how…[Read more]

Drove Bridget to AutoZone & bought some StaBil fuel stabilizer & poured about 4 oz in the tank, which is full.Installed the Gene Berg dipstick temperature sensor too. Don’t like the way the wire is routed, but can’t see another way. Ah well.Nice to get out one more time. Work to be done over the winter though, starting with the heat lever, which…[Read more]

Good work, Roy.Interesting that your bottom tube had big leaves where two side-by-side small ones usually go.

Trade for four kayaks? that could be a deal. Think the engine will be a 2.8, 60-degree V6 though, which imho would be just about right. Did they make a 3.9?

If mine were outside I would park it on a sheet of plastic or, at least, pavement. Vapor comes up from the ground and rusts stuff. Ask me how I know. I figure the tins should keep animals off your engine (VW people) and
with a front engine there’s not too much to perch on in there. Just
interior to keep clear, yes?So, shoot some WD-40 in the plug…[Read more] -

Sadly, my Halcyons are not (yet) ground to my prescription. Otherwise I’d have them on now, as I type this from my desk at work. The WWII-style flying helmet is roasty-toasty on those chill autumn evenings. Highly recommend.Right now looking for good gauntlets for the Full Winter Effect.Don’t think the silk scarf will rate though. Here’s me at…[Read more]

Yes. They now make “airbag” suits as well–spendy but would totally pay for itself the first time you avoid death or a TBI.
