Baritone horn here. As a bugle it’s made like a big trumpet (i.e. it doesn’t curl around and sit on the shoulder). Maybe 15 pounds, maybe a smidge more, to be held in front of you over the 3 mile parade route, the subsequent 4 mile parade route and, once, a final 2.5 mile parade that afternoon. (July 4, 1981 I think it was). I still have extra…[Read more]

Damn, that’s an amazing car. I also have shop envy. Or, at least, shop-tidiness envy.I really have to get my act together. Thanks especially for the pics. Looks like the old exhaust shows mufflers under the valance. New (A-1) shows pipes. Very helpful comparison.

Dude, that is awesome! Congrats to Lauren and the band! Thanks for the link too. They looked really good. Covered the field, kept the lines straight, and sounded strong, particularly when they squared up on the final number.

edward ericson replied to the topic Rims with 15 round holes? in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 4 months ago
I bought a 4-bolt Nissan steely & it has 15 round holes, making it pretty TD-like. (Like these–but $10 at the junkyard instead of $60 plus freight). Mitsubishi has a 15-inch, 15-hole steelie too (five lug)The Hyundai Elantra took a 15 x 5.5-inch rim with 15 holes, according to these guys. If they’re right, that’s about the best bet. Nearly narrow…[Read more]

Bump.So far I got three beautiful cars, plus my own(?), plus one shot I lifted from Current Toy (below), which I think might be worthy (though it might be on the small side).Any others? These don’t have to be brand new, this season photos. They only need to be fairly large format.Keep ’em comin’, boys.

He should have let that green one go for $3800. Nice car, but not likely to fetch much more unless it’s over-sold and over-marketed.

Paul–and Lauren–awesome job! That is just extraordinary. Bravo!Allen–another Drum & Bugle alum. I wonder if there is some mental/social affinity between drum corps/band geeks and replicar fanatics. St. Peters Royalaires here, Bridgeport, CT, 1981-83. We were circuit champs in ’82 and placed in the DCI Class A corps finals. The corps was gone by…[Read more]

Thanks, Schu. I believe your car is faster and sounds better than mine. But I don’t think either yours or Bill’s exhaust would work for me.Anyone else?Key condition is “would even fit under our cars’ truncated rear valence.”We’ve all seen a lot of Bugs with wild exhausts, many of who’s owners take pride in the idea that Big Pipes Should Show. It’s…[Read more]

Raby Type 4.Squeezing it under that rear deck, though . . . that’s the challenge.Actually, affording it would be the challenge.

edward ericson replied to the topic Engine Flush?? in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 4 months ago
I don’t know if it’d be right, but I’d just clean off the valves and rockers by hand to facilitate the adjustment. Maybe shoot some starter fluid on them to degrease. Don’t think I’d go crazy trying to “flush” out all the gunk though. ‘specially if she’s running fine.Anyone have any actual knowledge to correct me with?

Ed,
I have a header on mine w/ a single muffler ( can use two as well ) – really
helped my engine breath – made a big difference.
