Yes, what Pink (Mark) said. Sorry. The one I linked to is the one you’ve got. You can resell the tow bar & get your $60 back. Just put it on Craigslist. On the good side, you have a more sophisticated and probably better front suspension than most of us. Towing this is now complicated. There used to be “universal” style tow bars available. Not sure…[Read more]

Lower engine speed only means less heat if there is less load on the
engine. If the load is the same, the heat will increase because of the
fan spinning more slowly. Is this likely to matter much in a TD
replica? I’d think not, unless you’re also loading the nose with iron
barbells and towing a trailer with it. We’re light, so we get some
leeway.…[Read more] -

This is what you want: Bug, Ghia, Thing bar, retails for $80, everywhere. I got mine used for $40. I don’t believe coil-over helper shocks will interfere with it, but they may be a sign you should think about working on the front suspension once you get the spark and fuel squared away.

Welcome, Paul. Heard those Victor TFs were hot stuff.I’ve been seeing a nice selection of TD body parts floating across the ‘bay lately. Lot of front wings and some rears too. Full tubs once in a while. My opinion (you might know better) The late TD and TF are indistinguishable from the rear. I’d make a box trailer with a leaf axle and hang the…[Read more]

GF,
very nice – love the patina on the seats etc.
I think Richard Woobly ( CTDG ) has one of those and I am sure others.
Wish mine was like that before I bought my basket case – oh well it was
fun doing the resto w/ my son.

Car looks great. For front end fixes, do a search here on “adjustable beam.”

Jeeze, glad you’re all right. So I guess there’s a reason those babies get torqued on with long bars.Rear bumper is available at Moss. I seen them on ebay for about $90 for the blade. This whole thing reminds me of a song I learned on the Speedster board. . .

You Tube compilation of some of the none-too-professional video and camaraphone pics I got. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3TZTg6xH7MShould be watchable in a few minutes.EDIT: Watchable, not hear-able, as the Tube now apparently stripps out ripped soundtracks automatically. Can’t say I blame them, but kind of too bad for me since I spent a bit…[Read more]

That pedal problem looks tough. Your foot box looks narrower than the one on the car (BCW Chevette) a guy named Greg brought to Carlisle. He was saying his was tight and it looked like it, but not like yours.

I’ve got a BCW VW and have been thinking the same thing since I went and installed a gigundous 17-inch tiller on her. Haven’t cut anything yet but looks to me like the brace bolted behind the dash could move up an inch at least. You could also relocate the hood latch and gain even more flexibility in terms of interference with the gauges.I think…[Read more]

Seen those snaps before, and I am pretty sure I saw the car featured on a Top Gear episode a while back. (British version). The bit wasn’t about that car, but the car was used to get from place to place for the bit.

The Allison Daytona has the correct type side curtains with their own frames. Rich Wobby has a VW-powered one of these, and I think his windshield folds as well. He’s also got a totally enclosed steering shaft. On my car (a BCW VW) and some other VW kits, the shaft is routed outside the body work for a few inches down near the front fender. Dead…[Read more]
