Dennis,
They have a coupon for that oil on line now – I think like 50.00 off per case.
A 2.00 off per quart of the part syn oil w/ high zinc just went off sale I think
– I got about a case of the stuff for like 2.95 per quart at Auto Zone.

Tex, go to the Carlisle web site to see the deal. At this point you’d wait in line a bit and register as you enter. looks like a similar deal to parking at a sporting event (from my one-time experience). You go in Gate 3, pay for your sticker, and then do what the guys standing in the roads tell you. They’ll direct you to our little covey next to…[Read more]

That’d be the three-bow model. FYI, I’m especially interested in this because i picked up a two-bow frame to try to adapt to my car, when i’ve got spare time. Looks like the seat back needs to be narrowed just a little for that as well.Nothing’s easy.

edward ericson replied to the topic Hello All in the forum VW Based Kits 14 years, 11 months ago
I don’t understand. You appear to already have a good top bow system–much more realistic looking than most of ours. What would you need with a different one?As far as the canvas, check your PN from that & see if you ordered the two-bow model. That could be your trouble right there. If it was a 3-bow you sent back you could bring the car to a top…[Read more]

Just did the carpets on Bridget. Used marine indoor-outdoor carpet from Home Despot. Pretty big role was like $120. I got enough left over to do the boat.I used black, ’cause TDs had black carpet originally–low pile like this and with unbound edges. I’m all about the faux-riginaltiy. (TM)It was a bit more work than I had originally anticipated,…[Read more]

Well from what it looks like it will be Richard, Ed, Paul and myself this time –
anyone else coming? On another note – I just spoke to Greg and unless something changes he will
not be bringing his speedie – he does not feel like it is even ready to tow.
I guess I will have a right seater again. Not sure if I will be driving or flat tow…[Read more]

Great looking car. Looks like a real chrome windshield frame that folds down, and either a stright-up ’53 top mechanism or a very nice reproduction. Looks like your hood opens similar to my BCW, with hinges on the drivers side and a latch on the passenger side, all hidden. Very slick.Drive on up to Carlisle, I say!

I’m thinking, re jack stands for Greg, maybe some 1 x 1 foot squares of 3/4-inch plywood to go under the stands. I don’t think we can work on the pavement.

Sorry to hear your selling, Rich. $6k sounds very reasonable for that car, particularly if it’s as clean and well-sorted as the photos indicate. I was really hoping you’d drive it down to Carlisle so we could see it up close.Maybe the new owner will. You’re welcome any time in the S2000. Those are sweet too.

Hey, Rich: Karen and I are signed up for dinners, Friday and Saturday. We’re looking to get to the grounds early afternoon Friday, driving Bridget, assuming I didn’t screw her up to bad over the winter. If someone has a Tach & Dwell meter I might could use it to set Bridget’s points a little finer than I did with just the feeler gauge last week.…[Read more]

With that engine it must move out rather well – I would love to do a test
drive. Good luck on the sale -

Richard,
We will be there Thursday unless something changes – I can pick you up
from the field or you can drive Ally over to the hotel and go on the cruise
from the parking lot. You have my phone # – give me a call when you hit the
showfield on Thursday.

Looking forward to it Richard.
Looks like rain, but sometimes it just clouds up and we never get rain.
Hopefully the weather will push off and we can get some sun. -

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I think it might be the voltmeter in the dash, but it’s still much more likely that I screwed something up in the wiring. I’ll sniff it out eventually.

edward ericson replied to the topic Odds & Ends in the forum General Discussion 14 years, 11 months ago
Aaand . . . NOT the battery. Reads a sweet 14 volts after charge, but only on the multi-meter. The voltmeter in the dash still says 10.5. Stripped the wheels with a wire brush and painted ’em black. This is about my speed, technically speaking. The paint appears to be adhering.
