Great progress, Ed. I see you use the same CAD that I use. What version is yours?

Bending metal, boys. All in the service of making the spare tire fit just right.

billnparts replied to the topic Fuel tank vent in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 7 years, 11 months ago
I doubt the problem is the vent. The fill neck has a 90* angle right at the tank. You’ve got to nurse fuel in or the auto shutoff on the gas pump nozzle clicks off. There are some local stations I cannot use because it constantly shuts off. Also, make sure the clamps on the fill neck hose are tight.
The vent line that goes to the front was used f…[Read more]

Several modifications already done on this kit with the three link rear suspension and front tubular control arms. Newer model engine with serpentine belt and no thermactor holes in the head.

I’m running Alden Eagle coilovers with 500# springs. I remember running those original springs. They’ll knock your teeth out.

Transaxle is back.

Also did a guide coat on the inner clam last night. Not bad, but still needs a full sand-down and maybe one or two more trips with the filler.

By the way, those irregular little humps running in the valleys are bogus “weld fillets,” which are period-correct and will remain.

Well, all this crawling around, getting up and down and bending over this engine, I threw my back out last Friday, the 20th. I have been able to do very little since then. I’ve put some hoses on it to see where things will have to be run. Installed the dipstick tube. I’ve decided to eliminate the old battery box and use that location for the…[Read more]

billnparts replied to the topic Fender reinstall in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 8 years ago
If you remove one of the headlamp bracket bolts, does the fender drop into position?
-
billnparts replied to the topic Fender reinstall in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 8 years ago
Judging from that photo, the only long term fix would be to split the fender where it goes from the horizontal along the body to the vertical sweep over the tires and pull it down to where you want it and reglass it. Not quite sure it would be worth all that trouble.
By the way, what is that on top of your grill shell?

Good methodology.
Mine’s crooked the opposite way, fwiw. I fooled with it a bit when widening the fenders last winter but I don’t think there’s a slick way to make the adjustment.
I moved the bottom fender attachment points around a little (the bolt holes were already a bit big) and tightened them down as well as I could, taking care to not…[Read more]
