Rough luck. You’re right, that burnt connector “should” have only tripped the light. First things first, fix that and go from there. Good luck. Hope it’s something simple.
(Thank the heavens for AAA)

I was about half way to work, rolling to a red light, when I looked down and noticed the tach drop to zero. A couple of seconds later the engine stalled and wouldn’t start.
With the help of the panhandler on that corner, I pushed Bridget to the gas station two lanes to my right. Checked fuses. Tried to restart, looked for burnt wires, tried to…[Read more]

Well I’ve almost got the old drivetrain out. That job should be finished this weekend. Tomorrow I’ll order the new engine. I’m going to bite the bullet and get a drop-in with everything already matched and assembled. Advertised dyno specs at 300 hp., 336 ft.lbs torque. The rest of the drivetrain is already in place with the T5 trans and the Ford…[Read more]

Looks like I’m gonna have a V8.

Large chunk taken out of #3 piston. Cylinder wall looks untouched as well as the cylinder head. I have to pull the engine to effect repair, so I’ll keep it for a spare. I’ve already made up a parts list for the V8 conversion. All I’ve got to do is find it. It’s on paper.
I’ll notify the folks at the car show in…[Read more]

Well, it runs. It also blows smoke out the vent on the catch can like a freaking locomotive.I just pulled a compression test. Three cylinders at 150. Number three is sitting at 10. I hope it’s only a head gasket. We’ll see how lucky I get after pulling the head. ☹️

The 2 brackets in center came with the kit. I had the 2 end brackets made at Goodman Steel in Zanesville. They saved the dimensions in their computer in case anybody else needs them made.Since they were higher profile than the originals I polished them a bit with a wire brush on my drill press.
Inserting one of the brackets inside the rear…[Read more] -

Type A and Type B relays? Who’d a thunk? I am all but certain that I got stung by this during the Bridget build.
