That looks like a lot of cutting and welding. Will you bolt it to the bucket or weld it?

Emma seems like a good one to me. But this is really a personal matter. In my experience, the car suggests the name. I don’t remember thinking about naming Bridget.
Same thing with my mom’s old Nova when i was a kid. The car was called “Bess,” and that was that. My dad’s Nova, basically the same car, did not get a name. And my Nova–also the…[Read more]

Almost ready to put “(name here)” on the road. Highway patrol inspection 4-11. Put in a new battery and alternator, as well as a coolant recovery bottle. Warms up nicely in the driveway. Insurance card printed, but..she has no name. I know all the good names are taken. Thank you MoneyPenney and Zella, as well as others. I’m thinking British fe…[Read more]

Good on ya, Greg. And right, same thing happened when I had the tire guys slap on new tires and align it. Driving home I thought I was gonna die. Car wandered and rode so rough. Checked the tire pressure in the driveway: 36 all around.
Set them at like 16 and 24 and was instantly happy.

Allen: THANK YOU!
Got the front axle nuts today and went out to replace the busted one on Bridget. Can’t thank you enough.

Allen: It’s all dupicolor stuff I bought at Advance Auto. The touch-up spray is an excellent match for this Ford Toreador Red.
The “adhesion promoter” is just that. On the rack with the rest of the paint. It’s mainly for painting vinyl or plastic trim pieces, chrome, aluminum, etc. You prep the part by sanding off the coating and cleaning it with…[Read more]

Project Fender-Stretch continues apace.
I will say that daylight casts unflattering aspersions on my bodywork so far. But I’m not beaten!

OK, Allen, Schu had the same deal I did: extra spindles but no extra axle nuts. Looks like you’re up. I PM’d you my address. And thanks!

Put on the back wheels tonight. Little red Locktite where the through bolts I’m using as wheels studs go through the drum. Little blue Locktite on the lug nuts holding on the knock-off adaptor. Tops of the fenders cover the tires now.

Thanks, Dale. As per the photo, the bolt did snap off in the nut. But it’s sticking out the other side such that I am confident I can turn it through with a needle-nose vicegrip or similar. The thing lives its life buried in grease after all.

Sounds like you did it right. A lot of kits require trimming of various parts t6o get the body together.
