I’ve only used mine on the button heads. As these are on the outside of the material, you won’t scratch anything. Can’t answer for the “lift-a-dot”.

billnparts started the topic Seat Support in the forum My Project 8 years, 7 months ago
As most of you know, a couple years ago, I began to enter my TDr in competition events (Hillclimbs and Time Trials). It quickly became obvious that the seats were inadequate to hold my fat ass in place. I had planned to install a racing seat over this winter but was unable to locate one narrow enough to fit without extensive cutting to the tunnel.…[Read more]

Dale Schumacher started the topic Italian Dual Webers 36 DCNF – ready to go in the forum VW Parts for sale 8 years, 7 months ago
Guys,
Upgrade?
I have Dual Italian Webers 36 DCNF – including linkages, Air cleaners, new K&N filters, intakes – just mount and tune.
I ordered rebuild kits from Italy and had my local Air cooled VW Guru at German Motorcars dip them and clean them internally and externally and then completely rebuild them. They would fit a 1641 – a 1915CC with…[Read more]

Dean,
Trying to remember what that looks like and might have a special VW wrench for same if it is what I remember.
You want to upgrade? Have Wayne take your engine up to 1641 or 1776 with dual port etc. Lots of added power etc.
His price for a complete engine 1600 minus tin/carb etc is like 800.00 so if you use your stuff I am sure the price…[Read more]

Dean,
Sorry you are having issues – I do know that you will need an adapter plate to use the 31 vs the 34 – I had one for a while but sold it or gave it away with the carb. I believe Wayne Dittman might have one local and I think I still have the center section in my garage if you want it but not sure it will fit either – you can have it for a…[Read more]

If you want a waterproof boot for over the lamp socket, the distributor end of a spark plug wire will fit over it.

edward ericson replied to the topic Taillight Wire Routing in the forum VW Based Kits 8 years, 7 months ago
I’ve not heard of anyone having a problem with the taillight wiring this way. A split loom taped with electrical tape should be fine. My car just has the tape. The tire is way ahead of it. The tail light has a rubber cup behind it, in the fender well, that the wire passes through. Keeps out the gunk the tire throws up–so far, anyway.

The majority of gauges are installed like this…
Its just a matter of getting your hand back in there.
Good Luck.

So it’s definitely the speedo. @toller has one that he is sending me an old one he has so I will try to replace it. Can anyone give a hint of how to go about removing the old one without causing too much damage? I’ve looked at it but can’t figure it out. Below is a pic of what it looks like now.…[Read more]
