September 15, 2013 at 12:30 am #257673I think that putting up with me and my 2 TDrs is about all she wants to handle. She did make a complete top and side curtains (Different from factory as we didn’t have anything to copy). I made the mechanism using conduit and boat parts. She made a windshield to back tonneau cover for it and a boot cover as well. She made a mini cover and boot for the Ford based one that I have.
September 13, 2013 at 8:44 am #257671My wife and I did the carpet on my VWTD. We used the carpet called automotive carpet from EBAY. We bought two yards. We bound the edges with leather from an old coat. My wife had no trouble sewing it with her sewing machine. We cut it in approximately 1 inch strips. It was underlaid with the aluminum backed insulation that was cut aprox 1/2 inch smaller. It is now quieter, cooler and more comfortable. About $30 including the $5 yard sale coat.

June 3, 2013 at 4:39 pm #256279The person who used to have MGMagic had a list that gave original buyers of the cars and kits. I don’t know if that info went to the new owners or not, but it would be worth checking.
May 29, 2013 at 4:17 pm #256077If you covered it, no one would ever get to see the “tarantula orgy” that passes for wiring in most of our cars.
May 3, 2013 at 10:38 pm #255680I have seats out of a 71-73 Pinto. Low back, no headrest. Mine aren’t adjustable, but could be.

March 9, 2013 at 12:31 am #254911Always respected the opinions of others, even if they differed from mine. I’ve been reading this site daily, and commenting from time to time.. Bad apples are usually those who revel in annonomy. Hope they learn from our reactions. You ain’t wanted dude (or dudette)!
December 24, 2012 at 6:50 am #253531Merry Christmas, and a running Replica New Year. May all of your problems be mechanical. Denny
December 8, 2012 at 2:41 pm #252967An off-the-wall thought. Brake hoses can internally delaminate and the hanging piece of rubber inside can keep the brake from releasing fully. This can cause a pull or make that brake run hot.
September 21, 2012 at 1:25 pm #251921You could back a car onto a trailer.
September 15, 2012 at 2:11 am #251822I belong to the local British Sports Car Club. We can even enter our cars in the British Bash car show. There are three replicas (TD types that is) in the club. Nice people, they are the ones that spotted the car that became my second replica.
September 12, 2012 at 4:52 pm #251322Congrats Paul! We were all rooting for you.
August 15, 2012 at 5:01 pm #251409I was dissapointed with the performance of my Ford powered car. Thought about changing engines or at least having the carb rebuilt. Took the floormat out from under the gas pedal………seemed like 30 more HP. Then I put a spacer behind the the throttle cable and picked up a little more. The throttle wasn’t being allowed to fully open No money, very little time and the spacer that I used was even used.
August 15, 2012 at 4:56 pm #25138722-24 with the Ford power, 24-26 with the VW.

July 9, 2012 at 4:16 pm #249735Speaking of welding aluminum, I saw the chief bodyman from Ferrari weld together two pieces of aluminum foil. This was at the Illinois state fair many years ago. I still haven’t seen anything like that since. Wonder if he could weld fiberglas?
July 9, 2012 at 4:06 pm #251043I did the Skip Barber Racing Experience at Kentucky Speedway. Way cool!
June 26, 2012 at 8:53 am #241497Congratulations! By the way, my problem turned out to be a new valve guide that had been underreamed. The man who did them for me loosened it up and it has run like a champ ever since.
