I agree with Paul, I have a Classis Roadster “Dutchess” and it not the same in the picture. In comparing my friends orginal 52 MGTD, it appears to be an orginal car. As far as the price goes, my friend says it is a great deal. Just my two cents.DaveLakeland, FloridaWhere we drive topless every day

I also have extra fuses, a 12 VDC circuit tester, electrical tape, pliers, and a multi purpose screw driver. Another good idea is to have a foot of fuel line hose, and a flashlight just in case. Any other ideas??DaveLakeland,Florida where we drive Top Less every day

Very nice car. A local friend of mine, passed by on a super deal of $15K, for one. It was fully restored, and the orginal asking price was $22K. I much prefer the look of the TD? However the was my restoration is going, I will have mucho money in my MGTRr. LOL but restorations can be expensive.DaveLakeland, Florida, where we drive Topless all…[Read more]

davearoy replied to the topic Hood Seal and Other Questions in the forum General Discussion 10 years, 2 months ago
I only have the tan welting on the front and rear of the hood on my Classic Roadsters MGTDr. I relocated the battery to the front of Herbie, so I would have some additional weight up front, under the trunk area. As far as the battery cable goes, I used a string and followed the same path as the battery cable would. I also got a great deal on 10 ft…[Read more]

Beautiful car Dave. Is that a Classic Roadster Dutchess? I am almost done restoring mine, need to paint it the same color as yours. I am also thinking of painting my front grill slates a tan color like the interior. I am real envious of how your “new wheels” look. I hope you enjoy this web site, there is a lot of talented guys here.Best…[Read more]

If you drill new holes and shift the angle of the dangle, put 1 or 2 paint stir sticks on the body door ledge and between the bottom of the door. This will give you a comfortable space measure between the door bottom and the body door frame opening. If I had this problem, I would re fiberglass, and re in force the door hinge area, and then re…[Read more]

During my restoration of “HERBIE”, I was on the way with my VW CHASSIS to my engine mechanic, (the body was on a hoist in the garage) and was rear ended by a SUV. Even though I had a Bright Orange flag tied around the motor, this lady hit my engine at the crankshaft pulley not once, but twice!! Long story short, she was sited for careless…[Read more]

Paul as usual you have been a wonderful resource. So thanks a bunch for clearing up potential issues of our TDr insurance that should show the “Agreed Repalcement Value”. The question now comes to be, what should we agree to the value of the our TDr’s to be?? I see so many different “For Sale Values”, how do we know if we have a $4000 car or a…[Read more]

How can we really tell the true cost of our MGTDr? What should we insure our cars for? If someone were to crash into our car, it probably would have to be totaled due to the cost of repair parts. That is if you could find the body parts…….. 😐 Thanks for your comments!Dave

http://www.okobojicc.com/the-occ-experience.phpThis is a great link for a Classic car museum, in Northwest Iowa. Arnold’s Park is a major attraction, so I am told. If you look at the museum’s inventory link, (on the bottom of the web page) you can find out about each of the cars, and their asking selling price. The original yellow MGTD, is only…[Read more]

I hope you are able to find a buyer for your MGTDr. I will be happy to forward your Craiglist for sale notice to all of my car club members here in Lakeland, Florida. I replaced the plastic shift rod bearing (located just under the stick shift base plate. I had to remove the shift rod out of the tunnel to replace it, because the bracket holding the plastic bearing has a circular slot that the bracket fits in. I also replaced the 2 plastic square pieces in the shift rod yoke (the yoke attaches the shift rod…[Read more]

Thanks for your thoughts Dave. One of my MG Car Club friends bought LED bulbs from Moss, for his original MGTC. He paid $26 per bulb. I am thinking an auto parts store, or maybe “Batteries Plus” store. They sure are a lot brighter, and yes use less current and last forever.Dave
