Here’s some removable steering wheel hardware. Note that most of these weld to a 3/4 inch center shaft.http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Shop/Oval-Track-Steering-Wheel-Quick-Releases/15.html

I made my hood support from a fiberglass driveway marker, a Bimini top deck hinge and a short piece of pipe with the end hammered flat and drilled for the Bimini screw. I glued the FB rod into the short pipe using JB Weld.Bimini hinge looks like this.http://www.marinepartdepot.com/ststdehiwire.html

Gabor Kesseru replied to the topic Battery Cable Length in the forum VW Based Kits 11 years, 9 months ago
If you want long battery cable, the best source is your local welding supply store. The cables they stock have more strands per the same gauge cable. Their stuff is made for high current. Using welding cable is better than electrician type cable because current mostly runs on the surface of the strands, so more strands equals more surface area and…[Read more]

Not sure what the question is. The Ford and Chevy CMC/FF kits come with a completed frame that receive parts from the donor car. In the Chevette version, it’s almost all bolt on/bolt off. With the Ford kit, there is some serious cutting to get the front cross-member out from the donor car.

Decided to make use of the 1 1/2 inches inside the door for storage. First I made a frame. It was interesting, with every curve different and every angle too. Vinyl was glued to inside of door and frame just fits tightly, so no need to attach it anywhere. Outer panel holds it all in place.

Time to put welting on dash. Since I already put it all together to check on fit, first step is to take the whole dash apart again.
And here it is installed back in car.
I had to add a grab handle on the driver side also to help get my 65 year old butt out of the car. I guess that’s what you call customization. I opted not to have the metal strips…[Read more]

That’s a small 1 1/4″ ATV size hitch, mostly for putting a rack for carrying stuff. It was easy to add at this point, even if I don’t have any specific plans for it.

Do you have a title, or are you like I was a few months ago, trying to figure out how to get from zero paperwork to having a path to legally titling it.

Make that FMXXXX, four digits not three……

Gabor Kesseru replied to the topic Fiberfab ID number in the forum VW Based Kits 11 years, 9 months ago
According to Fiberfab’s President. Fiberfab MG TDs were numbered FMXXX, where the FM stood for Fiberfab MG-TD, the first digit after that is the unit digit of the year and the final three are the serial number for that year. Your number sounds more like a part number for that body piece.

I’ve had good lock with Kirker paints as an affordable system. It’s less than 1/4 price of name brands, but color list is limited.http://www.smartshoppersinc.com/kirker/acrylic-urethanes.html

Beautiful car. Totally believe owner spent that much getting it professionally restored and upgraded, but why? I could buy a lot of other great cars or other toys for $80K.
