Sounds like a fun event!!

I moved the e-brake on 2 VW-based TDr’s (one Fiber Fab and one BCW) following Ed’s excellent BLOG.  I highly recommend doing this project — but it does take time and effort — and patience and small hands…!!!

And everyone needs a winter project or 2…

The “old stock” sway bar  was so stuck to the old mounts that I had to cut the mounts off the car with a grinder…so I thought the time was right to buy a new set of mounts.  I doing the research, the only sway bar I could find for a lowered front beam is the EMPI one that is on the car — and the bar with mounts and free shipping on…[Read more]

…the nice part is that I still have the “old” red slats (PO painted the chrome slats red, and the paint actually stuck and held up for dozens of years…)  and although it is much harder than just changing the color of my socks, I can go back to red if the mood hits…

I finally got around to putting those items you sold me on Emma — the previous owner removed all of the heat ducts — the ones you sold me were a perfect fit!!

But the big news is my “new” grill — I had to remove the radiator shell when I replaced the front beam, ball joints, shocks, etc. so while I had it out, I replaced the grill…[Read more]

I’m in and should be drinking coffee with Roy on the Hilton patio overlooking the ocean waiting for you all to arrive — but in the mean time I have to hustle to get the front end (torque tubes, ball joints, etc) finished and a few miles of test drive on the new parts…

I guess with a little practice inserting pictures will become second nature (or not???).  Now I need to practice a bit.  Once I get the hang of it I’ll post the front beam replacement “saga.”

Great picture of what can happen to a shift bushing — and I know from the “fun” experience  of replacing that bushing on both Emma and Abby over the past few years…not something I would want to do every 2 years….

I’d like to do a check on the other cylinder head location temperatures, but to do that I’d have to pull the spark plugs, move the thermocouple drive and repeat — and remove the back and side fiberglass to get easy access to the plugs.  But since I’d also like to get one last look at the plugs to see how rich/lean/just right they are…[Read more]

Finally got the Pertronix Single Vacuum, Dual Advance (SVDA) distributor installed, adjusted, and the timing set to 34 degrees Before Top Dead Center with the vacuum hose disconnected from the side of the distributor and the hose plugged.
