Scott, I meant to follow that ebay item. I would have gotten it for 200 bucks just to have parts available and to see that mysterious grill they had in the mix. Ebay has been a great source for parts. Harbor Freight had the ‘ah ooga’ horn on sale recently, it may still be on sale. They also have nice chrome air horns too for less $ than other…[Read more]

Ringo,
Good catch there. I hope to start mine up Saturday AM. Hopefully you’ll have your baby humming along the highways in a few days. -

WOW, Greg. What a beauty.
I’ve only got two thumbs or else I’d hold up more.
James
PS Mel had mentioned he met you when he was there. -

Who is the manufacturer for your car? The front bar bracket – right side? Is that for the bumper? Do you think the grill could be repaired, these are fairly expensive items. The horn is an easy replace.

Here are some pics I took this morning.

James Cochran replied to the topic Convertible top installatin in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 16 years ago
I just recently put a new top on my car. My car previously had a top on her so the male snaps were already on the body. I just had to install the female side on the new top to align. I adjusted the top optimal setting by moving the pivot for the top frame and not the windshield. That worked out perfectly and the top is nice a tight as a drum. My…[Read more]

I tried to tempt her with his and hers MGTD’s, but that didn’t work. It does sound like Yogi.
I keep checking on ebay. The buy it now feature has gone away, just bidding now.
I’ll be interested to see the final result.JasCochran40050.9296990741 -

Mark, I think you’re exactly right about the assembler – Replicar Corp. One of the purchases the ebay seller recently made was for the CRAGAR spinners. I am trying to talk my wife into letting me run over to see the car and gather more info and pics. She is afraid I will lose my grip on the checkbook and cave in (she has a point
). She would…[Read more]

I’ll get it, but gotta pass around the hat

Then my wife will pass the frying pan
That car sure is a beauty. Dan is right about those wipers. I assume the folding windshield joint is above the wipers resting position. -
James Cochran replied to the topic engine locked up in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 16 years ago
Update:
I have the engine back together and didn’t have any left over parts.
I cleaned everything up inside the engine, removed some corner sludge deposits before putting the pan back on. Stripped all the paint off the metal pieces (exterior), primed and repainted with factory paint. Everything went back together perfectly. It is so much easier…[Read more] -

I was looking at the ebay sellers ratings and noticed he has been purchasing automobile parts including authentic MG items, the spinners were a recent purchase he made. His score is perfect on the feedback. He may be purchasing cars, fixing them up for resale. He has done a great job with this one. I noticed the hood is two parts, it shows in the…[Read more]

Don’t forget, we can post our replica’s on Jay Leno’s garage, and show our babies to the world. It’s free. I know several of us have posted there in the past. Here is my posting from last year.

There are not many MGTD replica’s on the site, but there are some. -

My son was driving through a small town in extreme NW Arkansas and snapped this with his cell phone. It appears to be a replica, the wipers are where they should be
. Makes me think about how many are really out there, enjoyed by so many. There is another red one, just need to get the owner to join up.

James Cochran replied to the topic Fuel pedal in the forum General Discussion 16 years ago
Be sure to space the pedals so your favorite driving shoe will clear. Mine just barely makes it with a hair’s thickness to spare. If my foot was any wider or my shoes any wider or any mud on my shoe, I would hit more than one pedal. There is not much room in width down there inside. The sides of my shoe drag on the right of the gas pedal and the…[Read more]

I had always wanted a TD since my grandmother gave me a toy one in 1956. After years of waiting and research, without question the replica is the better choice in all areas. I get a lot of looks and thumbs up and waves from all sorts of people. I know many of them have no idea of what they are looking at, but I think they really appreciate the…[Read more]

I had not thought about the tuning of real wires. Good point. I had thought of going real wires, but I need to rethink that. My baskets are looking better to me now. I had heard that the narrow tires will drive you crazy.
