Because I was able to get it back into position fairly quickly I think it just slid to pass side a bit, but honestly I don’t know if it rotated. hope not. still on stands (and will be for a while) so don’t know about torsion loss. It does look fixed in that link but I know the sick feeling I had when I tried to put the screw back and there was no…[Read more]

What I learned today is that you shouldn’t spend all afternoon trying to compound out scratches. Excellent solution for removing oxidation but for scratches of any real note see gkesseru above, or learn to live with it. With apologies to the perfectionists out there I’m going with the latter.

The scribe lines on my hood panels are faded but if what I’m looking at are the lines the side panels will be 44″ front to back at the top. Sound right?

Door hinge tip – screwed body part of hinges to a 2×3 to maintain correct distance (7 1/8″ in my case)and straight line between top and bottom hinge pins. Tight & blind nut bolt connections kept me very warm all afternoon. juneybug2013-12-29 20:35:34

Too cold for garage work so I am putting seats together. One thing I did to make the stretching easier and the folds smoother was to cut 1″ corners off the plywood backing. If I did it again I would cut 2″ radius on seat bottoms and back. On the subject has anybody thrown away the fiberglass seat bottoms and made them from wood and has anyone…[Read more]

Spent some time this summer cleaning top and bottom of floor pans, not ready for coating yet but closer, and I repaired all the holes I made smacking out the seat rails. Have the pedals relocated and the shift rod shortened but not yet installed. Want to go through the forums to avoid shifting problems later. softened the front end-posted what I…[Read more]

I have just finished removing all but 4 large leaves from upper and lower torsion tubes. I was able to do it from 1 side, (driver???s because of how it sits in garage) and without removing the hub. You will need a platform to rest the hub on, and to disconnect the shock at the bottom. I also disconnected the upper trailing arm from the hub to…[Read more]

Thanks guys. Think the clue in that thread is to back off the grub screws on the other side. The notches in the leaves that I’m looking at support this but I washed up for supper and it’ll have to wait.

I have the trailing arm off and the nuts at the center of the tube loose. I was able to pull 2 thin leaves out but the rest are not coming. Are they stuck or is there another trick to coax them out. I have only the drivers side off.

Schu: overheard at home depot, I swear this is trueCustomer wants to buy a basketball backboard and HD guy says assembly is easy with ratchet. Customer says he hasn’t got a ratchet and HD without missing a beat says “so you’re a lawyer?” Everybody’s got something, nobody’s got everything.
