  •  Paul, Sorry you had to deal with this sort of thing. Just goes to show how one bad apple hurts the whole bushel. Thanks for the time you put in to keep this site what it is.This seems so out of character for the members of this forum.

  •  Allen, The local OREILLY Auto Parts was able to order replacement VW arms with adjustable blade atachments to get the angle correct. The arms also could be adjusted for length as well. They also have 9” blades which are short enough for my London Roadster but about a half inch too long for the BCW which has a lower windshield height. I am still…[Read more]

  •  Kent, Welcome to the forum. London Roadster is the only manufacturor that used the coil over suspension to the best of my knowledge. They were sold as completed cars. Some  LRs used  the VW pan and suspension while some were built on a custom chassis with coilover suspension  front and rear. I think all of them used  Daytona MiGi body kits rega…[Read more]

  •   WOW That one went fast!! You had to deal with one of the more difficult items in the BCW. Looks like they would have made that area more accessable. Hope you told the new owner about TDReplica .com.

     Gary, Welcome to the forum.

As Bill said ,the front engine kits come with the frame designed for what ever engine /drive train is being used. To help you decide ,here is a brief summary of the different front engine cars.
My personal favorite British Coach Works—-Chevette engine/suspension/drivetrain  only.

Paul, If I ‘m reading Dan R’s reply in the ”gone and done it ”thread, he is using the Lucas lens on the ”Lucky” base . You could measure the space that your two bulb setup requires and then check the size of the Lucas base to be sure. It may be possible to move your bulb sockets closer to each other to fit them inside the Lucas a…[Read more]

London Roadster used almost the same design as Paul, however it is only two pieces of wood .It has two small angle brackets on the long side to attach it to the trunk floor and one to attach it to the firewall directly over the steering column. This also covers the stainless flex pipe that connects the fuel tank to the filler cap on the left side…[Read more]

Paul, on page 1 of the MG Magic price list,go down to tailights.

tailight assembly  Lucky replacement Ford Chevy single blub  $54.50 ea.

VW with extra socket assembly   $61.85 ea.

Looking at the first picture that shows the light on Bill’s car ,it looks like he has the Lucky light not the Lucas . I may be WRONG again.Hope this helps.

Paul, If  I”m seeing MG Magic’s price list correctly, they have a light like this available in both the one bulb and two bulb style.

  •  Paul is correct. The windows lower manually  but only part of the way into the door. They are removable as well. Look in ”Calafer’s” photo gallery ,there is a picture with a detailed description of how they work.

  •  Most classic insurers have milege limits, my co . has a 3000 miles per year limit. My agent said not to worry, there are no odometer police. They do require the car to be stored in a totally enclosed locked building. The agent said their biggest fear is that the car will be stolen. This type insurance is MUCH cheaper than regular daily driver…[Read more]

  •  It’s at $1255 now.  This is a custom chassis  coilover suspension London Roadster.

  •  MG Magic has the windshield frame [ no glass] for $215.

  •  Allen, Lowes Home Improvement and True Value Hardware stores carry the snaps and the tool to install them. Sometimes they are sold as a kit. The tool is a small cup with the sides shaped to hold the button part of the snap while you use a special punch ,also included in the kit to brad the end of the button inside the piece that snaps over the…[Read more]

  • I agree with Ed, nice car at good price for a dealer. $5,000 would probably buy it. I like the look of the ”lower than normal for a replica” top ,but it may be too low for a tall person. The GM wheel covers look good too. I’m wondering what wheels theygot to fit the Chevette hubs.

  •  Looks like a very early Daytona MiGi to me. Notice the rounded top of the engine cover and the narrow slots for the bumper brackets. Also weird side curtains, I’ve seen this one for sale with larger pictures some time in the past.

  • Merry Christmas to all of you!!! Like Allen said ,take time to remember what Christmas is really about.

  •  Doug, Unless the premium is way too high, I’d recommend about $10,000. I understand that ”agreed value” is better than ”stated value” .I am assuming that you are going with a speciality ins company and not just adding it to your reg auto policy. OOPS, I forgot about your VWs, you probably are VERY aware of collector car coverage.

  •  HI DOUG!!!WELCOME to the forum. You’ll find lots of info and support here. I’m glad you are keeping your dad’s memory alive by building a TD replica.I’m sure it will bring back your own memories as well.

You can find the guages at MG Magic or at many parts outlets depending on what type you wish to use. Check the ”Download Manuals” section a…

  • Greg, I ‘m not absolutely  sure , but I think London Roadster only used the weights on the custom chassis cars , the ones with coilover shock front suspension. I have owned two London Roadsters both with the VW chassis and VW torision bar suspension and neither of them had any weight added. I seem to remember some othe LR owner referring to…[Read more]
