  •  Paul, Look in the photo gallery at RedMGTD,RichBelfay,RobBaker’s cars .They all have the ”Lucky” taillights.I think they are usually found on CMC front engine cars but I have seen them on VWbased cars as well.

  •  Congratulations Paul!!! This accomplishment deserves recognition. We all know you as a TD Replica person , now we know you as a father of a daughter who is making something good out of her life. Larry Murphy40833.4143634259

  •  IMHO, $9000 IS HIGH ,BUT, I know of one that I personally saw back in the summer that was very comparable to your description .The owner was asking $10,500. The buyer told me that they went back and forth for a week and finally reached an acceptable price. This car had a fresh 2.3 engine and was in very good condition but needed tires since th…[Read more]

  •  The first thing I would do is check for a blown fuse. On my London Roadster, the fuses are located under the dash on the inside of the firewall to the left of the steering column.

  •  I prefer convex on both sides. It allows a wider view of what’s going on  beside the car. It takes some getting used to since most cars have the mirrors on the doors instead of on the fenders but with proper adjustment and practice using them your confidence will improve.

  •  It’s sad that some people misrepresent the condition of what ever they are selling. What sounds good in the description and even looks good in the pictures ,often turns out to be  completely different when the vehicle is delivered.
About the wireing under the dash,When the wires are properly routed and supported ,they will not need to be co…[Read more]

Paul, Good to hear of God’s blessings!!I’ve been enjoying them too.We are coming up on 49 years together this year and have had some good times in the TD replicas . Now my wife has back problems that limit the number and length of the rides ,but we still take advantage of the times that she is feeling well enough to squeeze in and hit the…[Read more]

  •  My Chevette based BCW has front disc and rear drum brakes but no power booster. Also, it does not have room for one.Braking seems OK to me but I do have to exert more pressure on the pedal than is required on power brake equiped cars.
I appreciate a car with lots of power but IMHO  ,a 283 is just too much power for these little cars.I don’t mea…[Read more]

  •  They look like CMC/FiberFab windows .As Ed said ,they may not fit even these cars . The shape and size may be close but the zippers were probably sewn in place to match the top they came with. The  zipper may be a different size or brand that may not match the top as well. The price is reasonable if you can make the neccessary modifications to m…[Read more]

Montie, Beautiful car in a beautiful setting!!! Here in NC ,we are not as  far along in the Fall color changes.I’m looking forward to some quiet, curvey, two lane roads with beautiful colors and me driving along soaking it all in.

  •  Like Paul said ,it is a Classic Roadster Duchess, one of the better replicas. A great looking car except for the side curtains and they offer GREAT visibility .
Ed’s price $3000 would be a reasonable starting point, and a meeting somewhere in the middle might be acceptable.
If you could hear it run ,it would give you a better feel for what you a…[Read more]

  •  All the parts stores sell replacements for the end of the cable. You cut the bad cable end off with a hacksaw or wire cutters and the new part clamps to the cable using small bolts. Replacing the entire cable is probably better but  replacing just the end will work.

Click on the ”search” button at the top of the page . Type in ”insurance” ,click ”all forums” and you will get a ton of info about insurance.
The classis/collector car route is usually much cheaper than adding to your regular auto policy.
I’m a little concerned about the car being titled as a Chevette. It may be that the builder just us…[Read more]

  •   Welcome to the forum. The British Coach Works cars are very nice replicas. They have thicker fiberglass then is found on most of the others and are nicely detailed as well using many original MG trim parts. They use Chevette engines , suspension and electronics, but the chassis is designed and built by BCW to fit the GM componants and the BCW…[Read more]

Great looking top!!Also a Great TD .I’m looking forward to the side curtain pictures. I got the one I’m building for the driver’s side door almost finished but got sidetracked with family projects.

  •  Look in oldfartfighter’s photo gallery to see pictures of a TDreplica with a hard top. I saw one on E-bay a few months ago that was more rounded in the back but did not have quarter windows.I also remember seeing a Classic Roadster Duchess brochere with yet another style but I have never seen an actual top in person.

  •  Thanks for the excellent pictures and description of what looks to me to be a major project. This should remove any question as to whether or not you can salvage this chassis.

  •  Mark, Glad you made it !!It’s sad that at what’s supposed to be the time of your life that you’ve looked forward to is still filled with so much ”stuff”’. We wish you well. Knowing you,I’m confident that you will get thru all this and come out on top.Keep us posted as you have the time. You are still needed here.

  •  Allen, Remember that the engine cover is slightly wider than the actual opening  that it covers. If it was not wider , the opening would not be completely covered. On cars with the  dual carb set up , the carbs are located  very near the area where the engine cover meets the body,so you need space there too.
